• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2022 Hyundai Elantra Comfort is a standout choice in the GCC used market, offering a balanced profile of efficiency and modern design. At 4 years old with 101,000 km, its mileage reflects typical highway-heavy regional use and suggests a well-exercised engine ideal for daily commuting. The White exterior remains the gold standard for resale value in the Middle East, as it effectively handles high thermal loads and remains a top priority for local buyers. Compared to its rivals, the Elantra offers a more aggressive, aircraft-cockpit-inspired interior that feels generations ahead of traditional budget sedans. For a reliable, high-spec commuter in the Gulf, this trim provides the perfect middle ground between essential utility and modern tech.

This Car vs Other 2022 Elantras

With 101,000 km on the clock, this Elantra sits right at the expected average for a 4-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where annual averages frequently reach 25,000 km. The White paint is the most sought-after color in the region for its heat-reflective properties and superior resale liquidity. It represents a well-maintained example that has likely spent much of its life on open highways rather than being subjected to the wear of constant urban stop-start idling.

COMFORT vs Lower Trims

The Comfort trim levels up the ownership experience by adding essential technology that basic fleet trims lack, including an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity. Buyers in the GCC specifically value the upgraded alloy wheels and enhanced interior materials that distinguish this trim from entry-level variants. These additions not only improve daily usability but also ensure the car remains competitive when it eventually returns to the used market.

Elantra vs Segment Rivals

The Elantra consistently leads segment rivals like the Toyota Corolla and Kia Cerato in rear passenger volume and boot capacity, making it the better choice for small families. While the Corolla focuses on tradition, the Elantra's 2022 redesign offers a significantly more modern cabin layout and superior aerodynamics. Its 420-litre trunk space easily accommodates the luggage requirements of long cross-border road trips common in the Gulf.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a core strength, with the 1.6L engine achieving a combined 7.0 L/100km, which translates to excellent range on long desert highways. Maintenance is straightforward and affordable thanks to one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While it may depreciate slightly faster than some Japanese counterparts, its lower initial cost and high demand for GCC-spec units keep the total cost of ownership very low.

Performance & Capability

The 125 hp 1.6-litre engine is tuned specifically for reliable performance in extreme high-temperature environments. It provides smooth, linear power delivery that is ideal for maintaining steady speeds on multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive setup are optimized for urban maneuverability and efficient cruising rather than raw speed, ensuring a stress-free drive in heavy traffic.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around the driver, featuring a wrap-around dashboard that places all tech within easy reach. The air conditioning system is famously robust, capable of cooling the 5-seat cabin rapidly even during peak summer temperatures. Despite its compact classification, the rear legroom is class-leading, ensuring adult passengers remain comfortable during long drives between emirates.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GCC-spec Comfort trim include multiple airbags and a robust Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). These systems are essential for maintaining stability on sand-swept asphalt or during sudden stops on high-speed motorways. The Elantra's 2022 chassis was engineered for high crash-test ratings, providing peace of mind for daily family transport.

The bottom line

This Elantra is the ideal match for a professional or small family looking for a modern, fuel-efficient sedan that holds its value and is cheap to maintain in the GCC.
