Summary

This 2022 Hyundai Palisade in the PREMIUM trim represents a highly attractive proposition for family-oriented buyers in the GCC market. With its current mileage sitting comfortably within the expected range for its age in this region, it has avoided the excessive wear often seen on long-haul commuter vehicles. The sophisticated Grey exterior is a high-demand color in the UAE and wider Gulf, ensuring it maintains a strong resale appeal compared to niche paint finishes. As a GCC-spec model, this vehicle is specifically engineered to handle the extreme thermal demands of the region while offering a level of interior luxury that rivals European brands at a much more accessible maintenance point. The combination of its 3.8L V6 engine and advanced technology suite makes it a standout choice for those who need a reliable, spacious, and premium-feeling daily driver. Owning a Palisade in this region provides peace of mind through one of the most extensive and reliable service networks available across the Middle East.

This Car vs Other 2022 Palisades

When looking at the 2022 used market in the GCC, this specific Palisade sits in a very favorable position regarding its usage history. The average annual mileage for a family SUV in this region typically ranges between 20,000 and 25,000 km, meaning this vehicle has been driven exactly as intended for a high-quality pre-owned car. The Grey exterior finish is particularly advantageous for the GCC climate; it does not show fine desert dust as easily as black and retains its luster better under the intense sun than darker hues, which directly translates to better value retention. Being a GCC-spec vehicle is a significant differentiator, as it guarantees that the cooling systems, radiator, and AC compressors are specifically rated for 50°C+ temperatures, unlike imported American or Korean domestic market versions. This specific unit shows the careful ownership typical of a vehicle used for family duties rather than commercial or heavy-duty use. For a buyer looking at 2022 models, the balance of mileage, spec, and condition here makes it a top-tier candidate.

PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

Choosing the PREMIUM trim over the base or mid-range versions completely transforms the ownership experience, especially within the context of the GCC driving culture. While lower trims provide basic utility, the PREMIUM grade adds essential regional luxuries such as ventilated front and second-row seats, which are a necessity during the long summer months in the Emirates. You also benefit from a significant upgrade in cabin materials, featuring high-quality leather upholstery and soft-touch surfaces that elevate the vehicle into the luxury SUV category. Technology is a major leap forward here, as this trim typically includes the larger infotainment display, a 360-degree Surround View Monitor that makes parking in tight city spots effortless, and the premium Harman Kardon audio system. The inclusion of the Blind-Spot View Monitor, which displays a live camera feed of your blind spot in the instrument cluster, provides a level of safety on fast-moving GCC highways that lower trims simply cannot match. It is these high-end features that GCC buyers prioritize, ensuring that this trim remains the most sought-after version when it comes time to trade-in.

Palisade vs Segment Rivals

The Hyundai Palisade competes in a crowded segment against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, and Toyota Highlander, yet it carves out a unique space through its interior design and tech-forward approach. One of its primary advantages is the sheer sense of interior volume and the quality of the cabin appointments, which often feel a full segment above its price point. While the Toyota Highlander is known for efficiency, the Palisade’s 3.8L V6 provides a more traditional, robust power delivery that GCC drivers prefer for high-speed highway cruising and overtaking. The air conditioning system in the Palisade is frequently cited as one of the most effective in its class, featuring roof-mounted vents that distribute air more evenly to the rear passengers than many American rivals. Additionally, the ease of access to the third row and the overall floor flatness give it a practicality edge over the Honda Pilot for large families. For those who prioritize a 'premium' feel without the maintenance costs associated with German SUVs, the Palisade is the clear segment leader.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a Palisade in the GCC is surprisingly economical when considering the vehicle's size and the power of its 6-cylinder engine. In real-world conditions, the 3.8L engine handles the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh efficiently while settling into a very fuel-sipping rhythm on the long highways between emirates. Because this is a GCC-spec model, it is fully optimized for local petrol grades, ensuring longevity for the fuel system and injectors. Maintenance is one of the strongest selling points for this model, with Hyundai's authorized service centers being ubiquitous across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, offering some of the most competitive service contract pricing in the industry. The depreciation curve for the Palisade has proven to be remarkably stable; it holds its value significantly better than its American counterparts and is slowly approaching the legendary resale stability of Japanese brands. After three years, a well-maintained PREMIUM trim Palisade remains a hot commodity on the used market, ensuring you recover a substantial portion of your investment. Parts availability is excellent, with both genuine and high-quality OEM options readily available at every major automotive hub in the region.

Performance & Capability

At the heart of this SUV is a 3.8L V6 engine that produces 291 horsepower, providing the kind of effortless acceleration required for merging onto fast-moving motorways like the E11. The eight-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, making it an ideal companion for long cross-country drives from the UAE to Oman. While it is a sophisticated road-going SUV, the Four Wheel Drive system offers several terrain modes—including Sand and Mud—which provide the necessary confidence for weekend trips to desert campsites or gravel paths in the wadis. The ground clearance is ample for navigating speed humps and urban obstacles, while the suspension is specifically tuned to isolate the cabin from road noise and vibrations. Despite its size, the Palisade feels remarkably agile, with a turning circle that makes it manageable in suburban environments. Its towing capacity is also a highlight, allowing for the transport of small boats or jet skis, fitting perfectly into the active lifestyle prevalent among GCC residents.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the PREMIUM trim is designed to be a sanctuary from the harsh external environment of the Middle East. With its spacious seating configuration, it offers incredible legroom in the first and second rows, ensuring that even adult passengers are comfortable on the longest road trips. The air conditioning system is a masterpiece of engineering, featuring a quiet-mode for the rear and powerful cooling that can drop the cabin temperature significantly in just minutes after being parked in the sun. The standard Harman Kardon premium audio system provides an immersive experience, effectively cancelling out external wind and tire noise. Thoughtful touches such as multiple USB ports in every row, easy-to-use sunshades for the rear windows, and a driver-talk intercom system for communicating with the third row make it a perfect family vehicle. The high-quality leather and dual-pane sunroof add an airy, luxurious feel that makes every commute feel like a first-class journey.

Safety

Safety is where the 2022 Palisade PREMIUM truly shines, coming standard with the full Hyundai SmartSense suite of driver assistance technologies. This includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, which are vital for maintaining safety on the long, straight highways of the GCC where driver fatigue can occur. The Blind-Spot View Monitor is perhaps the most useful feature for local driving, giving you a clear view of the lane next to you directly on the digital dashboard whenever you signal. For families, the Rear Occupant Alert and Safe Exit Assist provide crucial peace of mind, preventing doors from opening if a vehicle is approaching from behind. The car also features Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, which takes the stress out of the heavy rush-hour traffic common in major GCC cities. With its high-strength steel chassis and comprehensive airbag system, it has earned top safety ratings globally, making it one of the most secure choices for transporting your family.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec 2022 Hyundai Palisade PREMIUM is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the luxury and technology of a high-end SUV without the high running costs of a European brand. Given its popular color and well-maintained mileage, it represents one of the most stable and sensible family vehicle investments available in the current UAE market.
