Summary

This 2022 Hyundai Tucson Premium Plus offers a compelling entry into the modern SUV segment, featuring the bold fourth-generation design that remains a head-turner in the UAE. As a GCC-spec model, it is purpose-built to handle the region's intense heat with an upgraded cooling system and powerful air conditioning. Silver is one of the most practical and sought-after colors in the local market, ensuring strong resale value and easier maintenance against desert dust. Compared to its rivals, the Tucson stands out for its futuristic cabin technology and balanced fuel efficiency, making it an ideal choice for both city commutes in Dubai and long-distance drives across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2022 Tucsons

This specific unit represents the fourth-generation redesign, offering a significantly more modern interior and sharper exterior styling than pre-2022 models. Silver is a primary resale color in the GCC, typically holding its value better and showing fewer signs of heat-related wear compared to darker shades. For a 2022 model in this region, it represents a well-maintained option that bridges the gap between value and the latest automotive technology.

PREMIUM PLUS vs Lower Trims

The Premium Plus trim adds significant luxury and safety features that GCC buyers prioritize, such as the expansive 10.25-inch digital cockpit and larger infotainment screen. Unlike base trims, this version typically includes a 360-degree camera system and advanced blind-spot monitoring, which are invaluable for navigating busy multi-lane highways. You also benefit from upgraded cabin materials and ambient lighting that create a more premium environment during long night drives.

Tucson vs Segment Rivals

The Tucson competes directly with the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage, leading the pack with one of the most generous boot capacities in its class at 620 litres. While the RAV4 is known for its ruggedness, the Tucson offers a more futuristic tech suite and a smoother ride quality for daily urban use. Its cabin insulation is specifically noted for being quieter than many other compact SUVs in this price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel economy is efficient for the segment, averaging around 8.8 L/100km, which helps manage costs during long-distance highway travel between cities. Hyundai enjoys one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. Historically, the Tucson retains about 60-65% of its value after three years in the GCC, performing well against its European counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-litre engine provides a reliable 156 hp, delivered through a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission designed for consistent performance in stop-start traffic. While front-wheel drive keeps the vehicle light and fuel-efficient, the 181 mm of ground clearance is ample for handling speed bumps, gravel tracks, and light weekend adventures. It offers a stable and composed feel at highway speeds, even during the typical windy conditions of the open desert roads.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Tucson Premium Plus features a 'dual-cockpit' design that prioritizes passenger space, providing class-leading rear legroom for a family of five. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC climate, with dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool during the peak summer months. Premium touches like the buttonless center console and high-resolution displays make every journey feel modern and refined.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, which are essential for high-speed highway safety. The 360-degree surround-view camera makes parking in tight urban spaces effortless, while multiple airbags and a reinforced chassis provide peace of mind for family travel. Additionally, the Blind-Spot View Monitor displays a live feed in the digital cluster, a standout feature in this segment.

The bottom line

For a buyer looking for a stylish, tech-heavy family SUV with the peace of mind of GCC specifications, this Premium Plus trim is the perfect balance of luxury and local reliability.
