Summary

This 2022 Infiniti QX80 in the range-topping LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE trim represents one of the most complete luxury SUV packages available in the GCC market today. While the mileage reflects a history of consistent highway use typical for large family cruisers in the region, the vehicle remains a standout due to its robust 5.6L V8 engine and superior cabin insulation. This specific trim level bridges the gap between mass-market utility and high-end luxury, offering features that rivals often charge extra for as standard equipment. In the GCC, the grey exterior is a highly practical choice, resisting the visible effects of dust while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic that holds its value well. Compared to European rivals, this model offers significantly lower long-term maintenance costs and a more reliable mechanical platform for the extreme heat of the Middle East. For a buyer seeking a blend of executive presence and bulletproof Japanese engineering, this GCC-spec listing is an exceptionally logical choice that balances luxury with proven durability.

This Car vs Other 2022 QX80s

With 146000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven more than the average 2022 model, but in the GCC context, this often indicates stable, long-distance highway miles between emirates rather than taxing city idle time. High-mileage Japanese SUVs of this era are frequently preferred by savvy buyers because they have already undergone their primary depreciation curve while remaining mechanically sound for another decade of use. The grey metallic finish is one of the most sought-after colors in the UAE and Saudi markets, as it hides light desert sand and maintains a deep luster even under intense UV exposure. Choosing a 2022 model also ensures you benefit from the significant interior technology overhaul that Infiniti introduced, which fixed the dual-screen complaints of earlier versions. This specific unit has been maintained within the region since new, ensuring the cooling systems and rubber seals are genuine GCC-spec components designed for 50-degree summers. You are essentially getting a modern, tech-heavy luxury cruiser at a price point that reflects its road experience rather than its age.

LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE trim transforms the QX80 from a standard family SUV into a legitimate private jet for the road. While lower trims provide basic leather, this flagship grade features Semi-Aniline quilted leather upholstery that is significantly softer and more durable in the dry GCC climate. You also gain the advanced Hydraulic Body Motion Control system, which is absent on base models; this technology is crucial for a vehicle of this size, as it drastically reduces body roll during highway lane changes and cornering. The ProActive suite adds a layer of safety and convenience that includes Intelligent Cruise Control and Blind Spot Intervention, features that are indispensable on the fast-paced E11 or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Audio enthusiasts will appreciate the 17-speaker Bose Performance Series system, a massive upgrade over the standard units found in the Luxe trim. Furthermore, the Sensory trim includes ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats, ensuring every passenger remains comfortable regardless of the external temperature.

QX80 vs Segment Rivals

The Infiniti QX80 sits in a unique position when compared to the Lexus LX600 or the Cadillac Escalade. While the Lexus is often more expensive on the used market, the QX80 offers a more spacious third row and a more cushioned ride quality thanks to its sophisticated suspension setup. Against the Cadillac, the Infiniti wins on long-term reliability and parts availability across the wider GCC, including smaller cities in Oman or Kuwait where American luxury parts can be harder to source. The 5.6L V8 engine in the Infiniti is a naturally aspirated masterpiece, offering a smoother power delivery than the turbocharged units now found in many newer rivals. It also boasts a massive fuel tank that is specifically designed for the long stretches of highway between major GCC hubs, reducing the frequency of stops during cross-border trips. For families who prioritize a blend of old-school V8 power and modern Japanese reliability, the QX80 consistently outshines European competitors like the Range Rover in terms of annual uptime and service simplicity.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a QX80 in the GCC is a predictable financial experience compared to its German counterparts. The 5.6L V8 engine typically consumes about 12 to 15 liters per 100 km on the highway, though city driving in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic will see that figure rise; however, the ability to run on standard high-octane petrol available at any station makes it very convenient. Service intervals are generally every 10,000 km, and the authorized service network for Infiniti is robust across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, ensuring that expert technicians are always within reach. Parts are shared with several Nissan platforms, which keeps repair costs surprisingly low for a luxury vehicle. In terms of resale, the QX80 is a strong performer, typically losing about 10-12% of its value annually, which is far better than the 18% seen in many European luxury SUVs. This GCC-spec model will always command a premium over imported American-spec units because it carries the correct cooling and air conditioning specifications required for the region.

Performance & Capability

Under the hood lies a formidable V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, allowing this massive SUV to reach 100 km/h in just under 7 seconds. This power is essential for confident overtaking on the high-speed highways of the UAE, where merging into 140 km/h traffic requires immediate response. The automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, providing imperceptible shifts that contribute to the vehicle's 'Sensory' naming. With a towing capacity of roughly 3,800 kg, it is one of the most capable haulers in its class, perfect for those who own boats or horse trailers. The ground clearance is ample for desert excursions, and while it is a luxury vehicle first, the QX80’s heritage from the Nissan Patrol platform means its four-wheel-drive system is more than capable of handling soft sand and gravel tracks. Whether you are cruising at high speeds toward Abu Dhabi or exploring the wadis of Hatta, the performance is effortless and refined.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the 2022 LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE is a masterclass in traditional luxury updated for the modern era. It features a 7-seat configuration with second-row captain's chairs, which provides a 'first-class' experience for middle-row passengers and easier access to the third row. The air conditioning system is legendary in the GCC, capable of dropping the cabin temperature from 50 degrees to a comfortable 20 degrees in a matter of minutes, supported by dedicated vents for all three rows. Sound insulation is another highlight, with acoustic glass that keeps the roar of wind and tires outside, making it one of the quietest cabins in the segment. The updated 12.3-inch infotainment system provides seamless smartphone integration, while the wood-trim accents and Charcoal Burl wood inlays add a touch of timeless elegance. For long family road trips across the desert, there is simply no better place to spend several hours than in these highly adjustable, plush leather seats.

Safety

Safety in the LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE trim is comprehensive, featuring a suite of technologies designed to protect seven passengers in all conditions. The Smart Rearview Mirror uses a camera to provide a clear view behind the vehicle even if the boot is packed to the ceiling with luggage or the passengers are blocking the view. Adaptive Front Lighting reacts to your steering, illuminating corners as you turn, which is particularly helpful on unlit desert roads at night. Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and Predictive Forward Collision Warning can 'see' two cars ahead, alerting you to sudden braking before you can even see the brake lights of the car directly in front of you. The 360-degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection makes parking this large SUV in tight mall parking spots or villa garages surprisingly easy. In a region where highway speeds are high, the Lane Departure Prevention and Blind Spot Intervention systems provide a critical safety net for every journey.

The bottom line

This QX80 is the ideal choice for a large family that demands the highest level of Japanese luxury without the inflated price tag of a brand-new showroom model. Its status as a GCC-spec LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE makes it a reliable, feature-packed investment that is perfectly suited for the unique demands of life in the Middle East.
