Summary

This 2020 Infiniti QX80 is a standout choice in the GCC market, offering a high-spec configuration that balances rugged body-on-frame durability with executive refinement. In the white exterior, it holds a strong resale advantage across the region while staying cooler under the intense summer sun. Its mileage of 147,000 km is consistent with a six-year-old luxury SUV used for typical cross-emirate highway commuting. This flagship model remains a favorite for large families who require genuine eight-seat capacity without sacrificing the prestige of a premium Japanese brand. For the GCC buyer, the standard high-performance cooling system and specialized sand-friendly traction modes make it a reliable partner for both city traffic and desert weekends.

This Car vs Other 2020 QX80s

While many 2020 models on the market carry the base Luxe trim, this unit features the combined Sensory and ProActive packages, making it a significantly higher-tier offering. The mileage is slightly above the regional average of 20,000 km per year, which is common for flagship SUVs used for long-distance highway travel between GCC cities. Its white finish is the most sought-after resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring better value retention compared to darker alternatives.

LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE vs Lower Trims

The Sensory and ProActive upgrades transform the cabin and driving dynamics far beyond the standard Luxe trim. You receive semi-aniline quilted leather, a 17-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system, and climate-controlled front seats which are essential for the GCC heat. Mechanically, the ProActive package adds the Hydraulic Body Motion Control system, which significantly reduces lean in corners, providing a more car-like handling experience despite its massive size.

QX80 vs Segment Rivals

The QX80 competes directly with the Lexus LX 570 and the Nissan Patrol, leading with a more driver-focused interior layout and a highly competitive feature-to-price ratio. Unlike the Lexus, it offers a more contemporary dual-screen InTouch infotainment system for the 2020 model year. It maintains a technical edge over European rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLS in terms of long-term mechanical simplicity and maintenance costs in the local market.

Running Costs & Resale

Equipped with a 5.6-litre V8, the QX80 averages approximately 15.3 L/100km, performing best on long highway runs. Infiniti has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and the wider GCC, ensuring parts are always accessible. This model experiences a typical depreciation of 10-12% annually, which is lower than European counterparts, thanks to its reputation for reliability and the high demand for Japanese V8 SUVs in the region.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp V8 provides effortless overtaking power on highways like E11, while the 560 Nm of torque allows for a braked towing capacity of up to 3,856 kg. The 2020 model includes specialized drive modes for snow and tow, which local drivers frequently adapt for soft sand and heavy hauling. With its body-on-frame construction and 234 mm of ground clearance, it is as capable in the dunes as it is composed on the tarmac.

Comfort & Cabin

This unit is configured with the second-row bench, allowing for a full eight-passenger capacity. The cabin is specifically designed for high-temperature climates, featuring an advanced climate control system that cleans and filters the air while maintaining powerful cooling for all three rows. Acoustic glass and thick insulation keep the interior whisper-quiet even during high-speed highway cruising, providing a true luxury-liner experience.

Safety

Standard safety tech on this trim is extensive, featuring a 360-degree camera with Moving Object Detection and a Smart Rear View Mirror that uses a camera to see past luggage or passengers. The ProActive package adds Intelligent Cruise Control and Lane Departure Prevention, which are vital for safety on long desert highways. Additionally, the Predictive Forward Collision Warning system can see two cars ahead, providing an extra layer of reaction time in fast-moving traffic.

The bottom line

For the executive or head of a large family, this QX80 offers the perfect mix of high-end Sensory features and the rugged ProActive mechanical upgrades, representing a smart purchase in the premium SUV segment.
