Summary

This 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC bridges the gap between a daily commuter and a high-performance SUV with remarkable poise. With 77,000 km, the mileage is slightly higher than the average for its year in the UAE, yet it remains mechanically sound for the region's high-speed highway lifestyle. The Grey exterior is a highly sought-after, resale-friendly choice in the GCC, offering a sophisticated look that hides dust well during the summer months. As an AMG-tuned crossover, it outpaces standard segment rivals, providing a visceral driving experience without sacrificing the ride height and visibility expected by local buyers. This model is particularly well-suited for urban professionals who need a fast, agile vehicle that can comfortably handle the daily Dubai-Abu Dhabi commute.

This Car vs Other 2022 GLA 35 AMGs

While its 77,000 km is above the typical low-mileage threshold for 2022 models, it reflects consistent highway use, which is often preferable to stop-start city wear. In the GCC market, the Grey finish on this AMG trim is a top-tier choice for resale, maintaining higher value retention than more niche colors. Choosing a 2022 model ensures you have the updated second-generation chassis, which offers significantly improved rear legroom over earlier iterations.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the GLA 35 AMG over the GLA 250 adds 81 extra horsepower and the performance-oriented AMG SPEEDSHIFT 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This trim includes the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard, providing sharper torque distribution for high-speed stability on coastal roads. Inside, you benefit from the dedicated AMG steering wheel with integrated drive-mode dials and sport-contoured seats that offer better support during spirited driving.

GLA 35 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The GLA 35 AMG leads the BMW X1 M35i and Audi SQ3 in cabin tech integration, featuring the dual 10.25-inch MBUX displays that set the standard for the segment. Its 2.0L engine is optimized for high-heat performance, ensuring power delivery remains consistent even in mid-summer GCC temperatures. Additionally, the Mercedes-AMG brand carries a distinct prestige in the local market, often resulting in quicker resale transitions compared to its rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the GLA 35 AMG averages approximately 8.0L/100km combined, making it efficient for a performance-focused SUV. Service intervals are typically set at 15,000 km, with a robust network of authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider GCC. While European performance SUVs generally see a 12-15% annual depreciation in this region, the AMG badge acts as a stabilizer, particularly for high-demand compact models like this one.

Performance & Capability

This crossover hits 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds, delivering a level of acceleration that makes highway merging and overtaking effortless. The AMG-enhanced 4MATIC system ensures maximum traction on both sun-baked asphalt and the gravel approaches to local wadis. With a top speed of 250 km/h, it is perfectly suited for the UAE's well-maintained highway network, offering a planted and confident feel at speed.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to shield occupants from the GCC heat, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system and high-quality insulation. The 5-seat layout provides ample headroom for adult passengers, a notable improvement for this generation, while the 64-color ambient lighting allows you to customize the interior vibe for evening drives. The MBUX infotainment system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless connectivity on long inter-city trips.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Mercedes-Benz's sophisticated Forward Collision Mitigation and Blind Spot Assist, both of which are critical for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic in Dubai and Riyadh. The car also features an automated parking system and a high-resolution reversing camera to simplify urban maneuvering. This 2022 model is built on a 5-star Euro NCAP rated architecture, providing peace of mind for family use across the region.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking AMG performance in a practical, daily-usable SUV, this Grey GLA 35 is a smart acquisition that balances premium tech with a resale-stable specification.
