Summary

This MG GT Luxury is a standout fastback sedan, offering a sharp design and high-tech cabin that punches well above its price point. As the range-topping Luxury trim, it comes with a turbocharged 1.5L engine that provides significantly more performance and highway overtaking confidence than the base models. The Red exterior is a vibrant, high-visibility choice that holds strong appeal in the local pre-owned market. Given its age, this GCC-spec vehicle has been maintained for regular regional use and offers a feature-rich experience for anyone seeking a modern daily driver. It is a compelling alternative to more expensive Japanese rivals, delivering a premium look without the high entry cost.

This Car vs Other 2022 MG GTs

At 110,176 km, this vehicle sits right at the average for a 2022 model in the GCC, where annual driving typically reaches 25,000 km due to long highway commutes. The striking Red finish is one of the more desirable colors for this fastback styling, aiding in future resale compared to neutral tones. Being a GCC-spec model ensures the cooling and electronics are fully optimized for the extreme summer temperatures found in the Emirates.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim is a significant step up from the STD and COM variants, most notably adding a 360-degree parking camera and a high-definition 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It also features a larger 17-inch tomahawk alloy wheel design and power-adjustable sports seats upholstered in premium leather. These additions, particularly the surround-view camera, are highly valued by UAE buyers for easier navigation in tight city parking spots.

GT vs Segment Rivals

The MG GT leads rivals like the Honda City and Toyota Yaris by offering a turbocharged 173 hp engine, providing a more spirited drive for highway overtaking. Its fastback silhouette offers a more aggressive 'sports sedan' aesthetic than the traditional three-box designs of its competitors. Inside, the 10.1-inch tablet-style interface and fighter-jet-inspired cockpit give it a technological edge that feels more contemporary than its peers.

Running Costs & Resale

With a manufacturer-rated consumption of 5.9 L/100km, the 1.5L turbo engine balances performance with efficiency during stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are standard for the region at every 10,000 km, and MG’s extensive authorized network across the GCC ensures parts and specialized labor are readily available. The model has shown stable value retention in the UAE, typically depreciating at a manageable 15-20% annually.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 1.5L engine produces 173 hp and 250 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 215 km/h. Power is delivered through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that provides quick shifts, ideal for merging onto fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The front-wheel-drive chassis is tuned for a balance of comfort and stability, handling long-distance drives between emirates with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around the driver with an 'aircraft cockpit' layout, featuring a wide sunroof that opens up the interior to natural light. For the GCC climate, the automatic air conditioning is supplemented by rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool during peak summer. The sports seats offer excellent lateral support, while the 10.1-inch screen provides seamless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety

The Luxury trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Front Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning, which are essential for high-speed highway safety. It also features Electronic Stability Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, and multiple airbags as standard. The 360-degree camera system provides a bird's-eye view, significantly reducing blind spots when maneuvering in busy urban environments.

The bottom line

For a buyer looking for a stylish, tech-heavy sedan that offers turbocharged performance at a fraction of the cost of premium brands, this 2022 MG GT Luxury is a smart, market-ready opportunity.
