Summary

This 2022 Mini Cooper Cabrio offers a stylish way to experience open-top driving in the UAE, featuring a punchy and efficient 1.5L turbocharged engine. With a mileage of 86,000 km, it sits within the typical average for a three-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where highway-heavy commutes are standard. The Blue exterior is a vibrant choice that avoids the rapid heat absorption of darker tones, while maintaining a trendy appeal for city life. As a modern Mini, it balances iconic go-kart handling with updated technology, making it a standout choice for those seeking personality over a standard sedan. For a GCC buyer, the electric soft-top allows for quick adjustments to enjoy the winter months while providing solid insulation against the summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2022 Coopers

At 86,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 28,000 km per year, which is closely aligned with the higher annual averages typical for UAE-based commuters. Compared to many regional listings, this Cooper presents as a well-utilized but current-generation model that benefits from the 2022 facelift's tech upgrades. The blue finish is a resilient color for resale, offering a distinctive look that remains popular in the local pre-owned market.

CABRIO vs Lower Trims

The Cabrio trim is focused on the open-air experience, featuring a fully electric soft-top with an integrated sunroof function that lower fixed-roof trims lack. Inside, this 2022 model includes the upgraded 8.8-inch central touchscreen as standard, providing a more premium interface than the basic infotainment found in older base models. It also benefits from the refined LCI II styling updates, including the distinctive Union Jack LED taillights that GCC buyers highly value for their iconic aesthetic.

Cooper vs Segment Rivals

The Mini Cooper Cabrio leads the compact convertible segment with its unique 3-cylinder turbocharged character, offering more engaging handling than the Audi A3 Cabriolet. While rivals like the BMW 2 Series Convertible offer more rear legroom, the Mini’s compact 10.8-meter turning circle makes it significantly easier to park in congested areas like Dubai Marina or Downtown Riyadh. Furthermore, the Mini's 3-in-1 roof design allows for partial opening, a versatility not found in most of its direct competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5L engine delivers a fuel-efficient experience, averaging approximately 5.0 to 6.3 L/100km, which helps manage costs during long drives between emirates. In the GCC, Mini maintains a dedicated enthusiast following, ensuring value retention is generally stronger than non-premium subcompacts, though it typically sees a 12–15% annual depreciation. Authorized service centers are widely available across the UAE and major Saudi cities, with recommended service intervals of 10,000 km to suit the regional climate. As an American spec vehicle, buyers should note that parts are readily available, though service history should be verified at independent specialist workshops.

Performance & Capability

The 136 hp turbocharged engine provides a spirited drive, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of 8.3 seconds which is ideal for quick merges onto fast-moving UAE highways. Despite its small displacement, the 220 Nm of torque is available low in the rev range, offering punchy acceleration for city traffic. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth shifting, while multiple drive modes allow you to sharpen the throttle response for weekend drives through the Hajar Mountains.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for four passengers and features the hallmark Mini circular design language updated with modern digital displays. The powerful air conditioning system is engineered to handle extreme summer temperatures, and the high-quality soft-top provides impressive acoustic insulation for a convertible. Synthetic leather seating surfaces offer durability against the sun and sand common in the region, ensuring the interior remains in good condition over time.

Safety

This Cooper comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags and electronic stability control, which is essential for maintaining traction on sand-dusted road surfaces. It features Active Guard with forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, providing peace of mind during heavy highway traffic. Rear parking sensors and a high-definition camera facilitate easy maneuvering in tight urban spots.

The bottom line

This 2022 Mini Cabrio is the perfect choice for a style-conscious buyer looking for a modern, tech-forward convertible that is ready for the UAE's winter season. It offers the ideal balance of iconic design and reliable German-engineered performance at a competitive entry point for the current model generation.
