Summary

This 2022 Mini Cooper S Cabrio offers a rare combination for the GCC market: the punchy 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission for total driver engagement. With mileage sitting around 86,000 km, it has been driven slightly more than the average weekend car but remains mechanically sound for the region's high-speed commutes. The striking Blue exterior is a popular choice in the UAE, ensuring strong resale interest compared to more muted tones. As a facelifted 2022 model, it benefits from the updated Union Jack LED lighting and a modernized interior that feels current alongside newer rivals. For the buyer who values the 'go-kart' handling Mini is famous for, this manual convertible provides an analog experience that is increasingly hard to find.

This Car vs Other 2022 Cooper Ss

While many Cooper S models in the GCC are equipped with automatic gearboxes, this manual example stands out for enthusiasts who want direct control. The 86,000 km mileage is higher than a typical garage-kept convertible but reflects consistent use, which can often be better for seals and gaskets in the extreme heat than a car that sits idle. The Blue finish is a high-demand color in the local market, typically holding its value better than white or silver on this specific model.

CABRIO vs Lower Trims

The Cooper S trim is a significant jump over the base Cooper, replacing the 1.5L three-cylinder with a much more robust 2.0L four-cylinder engine. In the GCC climate, the S trim's additional cooling intakes and sport seats provide better support and durability during summer drives. You also get 16-inch alloy wheels and the enhanced Driving Assistant suite standard, which includes lane departure warning—a feature often missing on base trims.

Cooper S vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Mazda MX-5 or Audi A3 Cabriolet, the Mini leads with its iconic design and superior 4-seat practicality. Its compact turning circle makes it easier to navigate tight parking in areas like Dubai Marina or Downtown Riyadh than its longer European competitors. The turbocharged torque from the 2.0L engine also provides better highway overtaking performance than naturally aspirated segment alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel efficiency is impressive at 6.5 L/100km, though expect slightly higher consumption in stop-start traffic in Dubai or Abu Dhabi with the AC on full blast. Service intervals are condition-based, typically falling every 15,000 km, and Mini has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As an American spec vehicle, buyers should verify service history, though parts availability remains excellent across the GCC due to the shared BMW-group platform.

Performance & Capability

The Cooper S delivers a verified 0-100 km/h time of 7.1 seconds, providing plenty of pep for merging onto fast-moving UAE highways. With 178 hp delivered to the front wheels, the manual gearbox allows you to keep the turbo in its sweet spot during spirited drives through Jabal Hafeet or the Northern Emirates. The 3-in-1 electric soft top can be operated at speeds up to 30 km/h, allowing you to quickly close the cabin if a sudden dust storm or heat wave hits.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior features the updated 8.8-inch high-resolution touchscreen and the digital instrument cluster that became standard for the 2022 model year. While compact, the four-seat layout is perfect for city trips, and the powerful climate control system is engineered to cope with the high ambient temperatures of the region. Ambient lighting with six selectable colors adds a premium feel to the cabin during night drives along the coast.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this 2022 model includes the Mini Driving Assistant with lane departure warning and forward collision warning. For the GCC's multi-lane highway environment, the rear parking sensors and integrated electronic stability control provide essential peace of mind. The roll-over protection system is hidden but ready to deploy instantly, ensuring convertible safety without compromising the car's sleek lines.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity for a purist to own a manual, facelifted Cooper S Convertible that perfectly suits the UAE's outdoor lifestyle while offering modernized tech.
