Summary

This 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander GLX HIGHLINE FABRIC represents an exceptionally smart purchase for families in the GCC who prioritize reliability and high resale value. With its GCC regional specification, this vehicle is purpose-built to handle the intense heat of the UAE and Saudi summers while offering a versatile seven-seat layout that rivals larger SUVs. The combination of an All Wheel Drive system and a proven 2.4L engine makes it a versatile companion for both daily urban school runs in Dubai and weekend highway trips to Salalah. Black is a highly sought-after exterior color in the local used market, ensuring this car will maintain its aesthetic appeal and market liquidity for years to come. In a segment crowded with complex turbocharged engines, this naturally aspirated powertrain offers the long-term mechanical simplicity that local buyers trust. It stands out as a balanced middle ground for those who need the utility of three rows without the cumbersome footprint of a full-sized 4x4.

This Car vs Other 2022 Mitsubishi Outlanders

When comparing this specific unit to other 2022 models currently available in the GCC market, the mileage sits exactly at the sweet spot for a two-year-old vehicle. At 75,000 km, it has been driven approximately 37,500 km per year, which is a standard figure for active families who commute between Sharjah and Dubai or make regular trips across the Emirates. This usage indicates the vehicle has been regularly exercised, preventing the seal and gasket issues often found in cars that sit idle in high-heat environments. The black exterior finish on this GLX HIGHLINE FABRIC trim is a major selling point, as it commands a premium in the secondary market compared to less conventional colors. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and parts compatibility headaches often associated with North American imports, ensuring full peace of mind for the next owner. It has clearly been maintained to meet the rigorous demands of the local climate, showing no signs of the typical sun-fade or interior wear common in high-use SUVs.

GLX HIGHLINE FABRIC vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the GLX HIGHLINE FABRIC trim provides a significant upgrade in both daily comfort and visual presence over the base models. This trim level introduces the All Wheel Drive system as a standard feature, which is a critical differentiator for those who might encounter gravel roads or sandy patches during weekend excursions. Inside, the high-quality fabric upholstery is specifically chosen for the GCC climate, as it remains significantly cooler to the touch than leather after hours of exposure to the summer sun. You also benefit from enhanced interior tech and climate control features that are often missing from the entry-level variants, ensuring that passengers in all three rows stay comfortable. The inclusion of larger alloy wheels and additional chrome detailing on the exterior gives this Outlander a much more premium look that bridges the gap between a utilitarian hauler and a luxury crossover. It is the ideal choice for buyers who want the core mechanical strengths of the top-tier trims without the excessive price tag of the leather-clad versions.

Outlander vs Segment Rivals

In the highly competitive GCC mid-size SUV segment, the Outlander consistently punches above its weight against rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V. While many of its competitors only offer five seats in their standard configurations, this Mitsubishi provides a legitimate third row, making it a more versatile option for growing families or those who occasionally host guests. The 2.4L engine is widely regarded as one of the most reliable in its class, offering a more linear power delivery and simpler maintenance schedule than the smaller turbocharged engines found in some European rivals. Its All Wheel Drive system is also more robust than the light-duty systems found in many city-focused crossovers, providing better traction on the loose surfaces common at the edges of UAE suburbs. Additionally, the Outlander's air conditioning system is legendary for its ability to reach freezing temperatures rapidly, a vital feature that often outperforms the cooling capacity of its American and Korean segment competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Mitsubishi in the GCC is synonymous with low running costs and exceptional parts availability from Kuwait to Oman. The 2.4L four-cylinder engine is tuned for efficiency, typically consuming between 8.5 to 9.5 liters per 100km on the highway, making long-distance drives across the desert surprisingly affordable. In stop-start city traffic, the automatic transmission is optimized to keep RPMs low, further preserving fuel and reducing wear on internal components. Service intervals are generally every 10,000 km, and because Mitsubishi has one of the widest authorized service networks in the region, getting your car maintained is convenient regardless of which Emirate or GCC city you reside in. Historical data shows that the Outlander retains roughly 80-85% of its value after three years in the UAE market, which is significantly higher than many of its European counterparts. This low depreciation rate makes it a safe financial investment, as the demand for reliable seven-seaters remains high year-round.

Performance & Capability

The 170 horsepower delivered by the 2.4L MIVEC engine provides a confident and steady driving experience, particularly when merging onto fast-moving highways like the E11. While it is not designed for heavy dune bashing, the All Wheel Drive system offers excellent stability on wet roads during the winter rains or on the sandy tracks leading to popular camping spots. The suspension is tuned for comfort, soaking up the minor imperfections of urban roads while remaining composed at high speeds during cross-country trips. With a respectable ground clearance, the Outlander handles high speed bumps and steep driveway transitions without the risk of scraping the underbody. The 0-100 km/h performance is perfectly adequate for a vehicle of this size, ensuring you can keep pace with traffic flow with a full load of passengers. Whether you are towing a small jet ski or simply navigating the morning rush, the powertrain feels durable and responsive to the driver’s inputs.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the GLX HIGHLINE FABRIC is designed with the GCC family in mind, offering a spacious and airy environment that manages to feel uncluttered. The seven-seat configuration is highly flexible, allowing the rear rows to fold flat to accommodate large grocery hauls from Carrefour or luggage for a trip to the airport. Mitsubishi has prioritized cabin insulation, ensuring that the roar of the highway and the heat of the midday sun are kept at bay. The air conditioning system features dedicated vents for the rear passengers, ensuring that even those in the third row stay cool during the peak of summer—a feature that is non-negotiable for regional buyers. The high-quality fabric seats provide excellent support for long drives and are remarkably easy to clean, making them ideal for families with young children. Technological features are intuitively laid out, allowing the driver to stay focused on the road while easily managing the vehicle's entertainment and climate settings.

Safety

Safety is a primary pillar of the Mitsubishi design philosophy, and this Outlander comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems. It carries a 5-Star NCAP safety rating, providing the highest level of protection for you and your family in the event of a collision. Standard features include multiple airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), which are essential for maintaining control during emergency stops on slippery or sandy surfaces. The All Wheel Drive system acts as a proactive safety feature, constantly monitoring grip levels to prevent skidding before it occurs. For highway driving, the vehicle’s stability control and reinforced body construction offer peace of mind when traveling at speed alongside larger commercial vehicles. This trim level ensures that safety is not an optional extra, but a standard guarantee for every occupant in the vehicle.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Outlander is the perfect match for a pragmatic family buyer who needs seven seats and AWD capability without the high maintenance costs of a luxury brand. With its popular black finish and reliable 2.4L engine, it offers the best balance of utility and resale value currently available in the 2022 used market.
