Summary

This 2022 Nissan Altima S offers a practical entry point into one of the region's most popular sedan segments, balancing modern tech with long-distance efficiency. As an American-spec vehicle, it provides a cost-effective alternative for buyers who prioritize current-generation features at a competitive price point. The Altima stands out for its superior fuel economy and smooth highway manners, making it an ideal choice for the daily Abu Dhabi to Dubai commute. With a spacious five-seat cabin and a reputation for durable mechanics, this sedan is a reliable companion for navigating GCC city traffic and high-speed motorways alike.

This Car vs Other 2022 Altima s

With 93,000 km, this Altima has been driven roughly 31,000 km per year, which is typical for a long-distance commuter in the GCC. While higher than some strictly city-driven units, this usage often indicates consistent highway operation, which is mechanically preferable to stop-start wear. The Blue exterior is a refreshing alternative to the usual monochrome palette, though it requires slightly more care in the dusty summer months to maintain its resale appeal.

S vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim, the S includes essential tech that GCC buyers look for, such as remote engine start—a vital feature for cooling the cabin before entry during the summer. It also provides a 7-inch touchscreen and keyless push-button ignition as standard equipment. While higher trims add leather or larger wheels, the S focuses on efficiency with 16-inch steel wheels that offer a more cushioned ride over uneven surfaces and lower tyre replacement costs.

Altima vs Segment Rivals

The Altima frequently leads its primary rivals, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, in highway fuel efficiency thanks to its optimized Xtronic CVT. Its Zero Gravity seat design is specifically praised for reducing fatigue during long cross-border drives between Emirates. Furthermore, the Altima's 61.3-litre fuel tank provides a significant cruising range, often requiring fewer fuel stops than competitors on long desert stretches.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine averages approximately 7.4 L/100km, performing exceptionally well on open motorways. As an American-spec model, it typically carries a lower entry price compared to GCC-spec equivalents but may experience a steeper annual depreciation of around 12–15% in the local market. Parts are widely available across the UAE and Saudi Arabia due to Nissan's massive regional presence, ensuring that maintenance remains straightforward at independent specialized workshops.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 182 horsepower, providing steady power for highway overtaking and maintaining high speeds with ease. The Xtronic CVT is tuned for smooth ratio changes, ensuring a quiet cabin environment even when accelerating onto fast-moving bypasses. While focused on efficiency, the Altima maintains a composed and agile feel that makes it easy to maneuver through tight city parking and multi-lane junctions.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior features Nissan’s renowned seating comfort, with ample legroom for three adults in the rear. Standard air conditioning in the 2022 model is designed for high-capacity cooling, reaching comfortable temperatures quickly even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. The 436-litre boot provides generous space for family shopping trips or airport luggage, while the acoustic windshield helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during high-speed travel.

Safety

Safety is a primary strength, with this model year achieving a 5-star NHTSA overall rating. Standard equipment includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Warning, providing essential protection on the UAE’s busy highways. The vehicle is also equipped with 10 supplemental airbags and a RearView Monitor to assist with safe parking and reversing in crowded urban areas.

The bottom line

This 2022 Altima S is an excellent opportunity for a value-conscious buyer looking for a modern, fuel-efficient commuter that doesn't sacrifice safety or space.
