Tesla Model Y PERFORMANCE

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 3.7 seconds
• 514 km electric range (WLTP)
• 250 kW peak DC charging standard

Summary

This GCC-spec Performance model offers the most aggressive speed in the lineup, making it a standout choice for those who prioritize power and range. With its white multi-coat exterior, it holds the strongest resale potential in the UAE market, as this color remains the most sought-after for local buyers. The mileage is exceptionally low for a 2022 vehicle in the GCC, as typical regional use often exceeds 20,000 km per year. For an EV buyer in this region, the combination of a high-capacity battery and established Supercharger infrastructure across the Emirates ensures seamless long-distance commuting. It bridges the gap between a family SUV and a dedicated sports car, providing practicality without sacrificing the thrill of instant electric torque.

This Car vs Other 2022 Model Ys

With just 40,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 50,000–60,000 km expected for a two-year-old car in the UAE. The white exterior is the top-performing color for regional resale value, as it effectively reflects heat and is highly favored by second-hand buyers. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it carries full regional warranty and service support, a major advantage over imported North American units.

PERFORMANCE vs Lower Trims

The Performance trim upgrades the standard dual-motor setup to deliver a 3.7-second sprint time, compared to 5.0 seconds in the Long Range. It exclusively features 21-inch Überturbine wheels, upgraded performance brakes, and a lowered suspension for sharper handling on fast-moving highways. Inside, the addition of alloy pedals and the dedicated Track Mode software differentiates it from the base models.

Model Y vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW iX3 and Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Tesla leads significantly in charging convenience through its dedicated Supercharger network across the GCC. While rivals may offer more traditional interior materials, the Model Y provides superior cargo capacity, totaling 2,158 litres with seats folded, and a standard front 'frunk' that competitors often lack. Its software-first approach means features like Sentry Mode and Autopilot stay updated via over-the-air improvements.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are remarkably low, with energy consumption averaging 17.3 kWh/100km, offering significant savings over petrol equivalents in stop-start city traffic. Maintenance is minimal compared to ICE vehicles, typically involving only tire rotations and cabin filter changes every two years. Tesla's value retention in the GCC remains strong, particularly for Performance trims, which generally depreciate slower than early-generation electric rivals from luxury legacy brands.

Performance & Capability

The dual-motor All Wheel Drive system produces 437 hp, allowing for a top speed of 250 km/h and effortless overtaking on the E11 highway. The lowered center of gravity provided by the floor-mounted battery pack ensures flat cornering, while the Performance brakes provide consistent stopping power in high-temperature conditions. Standard drive modes allow the driver to toggle between Chill and Sport to adapt to city congestion or open desert roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is optimized for the GCC climate with a highly efficient heat pump and a powerful climate control system that can be pre-conditioned via the mobile app. The minimalist interior features 5-way adjustable heated seats and an expansive glass roof with infrared and UV protection to mitigate solar heat. For family trips, the flat floor provides generous rear legroom, while the 15-inch central display manages everything from navigation to Netflix during charging stops.

Safety

This trim comes standard with a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating and a comprehensive ADAS suite including active emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring. The side-mounted cameras are particularly useful for navigating multi-lane highway traffic in Dubai, while the high-strength steel frame provides exceptional rollover protection. Sentry Mode also provides 360-degree security monitoring while the car is parked in public areas.

The bottom line

This is a low-mileage, GCC-spec Performance variant in the most desirable resale color, making it the perfect opportunity for a UAE buyer looking for supercar acceleration in a practical SUV.
