Summary

This 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance represents a high-spec entry into the GCC’s rapidly growing EV market, finished in resale-strong Pearl White. As a four-year-old vehicle with average mileage for the region, it offers a significant saving over new models while retaining the high-output dual-motor setup that defines the Performance trim. The Model Y stands out for its unmatched software integration and the convenience of the regional Supercharger network, which remains the gold standard for cross-emirate travel. For a GCC buyer, this specific car provides the ideal balance of supercar-rivaling acceleration and the practical SUV dimensions required for family duties in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

This Car vs Other 2022 Model Ys

With 118,000 km on the odometer, this Model Y has been driven approximately 29,500 km per year, which is slightly above the global average but very typical for the highway-heavy commutes between Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. The Pearl White exterior is the most sought-after color in the GCC used market, offering the best heat rejection during summer and ensuring strong liquidity at resale. Compared to Long Range versions from the same year, this Performance unit holds a higher desirability index due to its upgraded brakes and exclusive styling.

PERFORMANCE vs Lower Trims

The Performance trim is a significant step up from the Long Range and RWD models, adding the 'Track Mode' software suite and a lowered, sport-tuned suspension for better high-speed stability. It is visually distinguished by 21-inch Überturbine wheels, performance brakes with red calipers, and a carbon fiber rear spoiler that improves aerodynamics. Inside, you get the full premium package as standard, including the 14-speaker immersive sound system and aluminum alloy pedals not found on base models.

Model Y vs Segment Rivals

The Model Y Performance leads rivals like the BMW iX3 and Audi Q4 e-tron in raw acceleration and charging infrastructure, benefiting from the proprietary Supercharger network across the UAE and Qatar. Its cargo capacity is a major advantage, offering a combined 854 litres of boot space plus a 117-litre frunk, which significantly outclasses European competitors in this footprint. The minimalist cabin tech and over-the-air updates ensure the car feels newer for longer compared to traditional luxury SUVs.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are exceptionally low compared to petrol SUVs, with a combined efficiency of approximately 17.3 kWh/100km (WLTP). In the GCC, Tesla maintenance is simplified with no traditional oil changes or transmission services, and there is an expanding network of authorized service centers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha. While luxury EVs experience typical initial depreciation, the Model Y Performance retains a strong following in the UAE, typically holding better value than non-GCC spec imports due to local warranty support for the battery and drive unit.

Performance & Capability

The defining trait of this car is its 3.7-second 0-100 km/h sprint, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11. The dual-motor All-Wheel Drive system provides exceptional grip on sandy road shoulders and during rare rain events, while the 250 km/h top speed ensures it stays composed at cruising speeds. The 250 kW peak DC charging capability means you can add up to 270 km of range in just 15 minutes at a V3 Supercharger, making long-distance GCC road trips entirely viable.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat interior is wrapped in premium vegan leather, featuring a massive 15-inch center touchscreen that controls everything from navigation to Netflix during charging stops. GCC-specific comfort is handled by a powerful dual-zone climate system that can be pre-cooled via the Tesla app before you leave your home or office. The expansive panoramic glass roof is heavily tinted to block UV rays, while heated seats for all five occupants provide comfort during the cooler desert winter nights.

Safety

Standard safety features include the full Autopilot suite with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist, which are particularly helpful for managing long stretches of desert highway. The Model Y earned a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, aided by its low center of gravity which reduces rollover risk—a critical safety factor for SUVs. Eight cameras provide a 360-degree digital view, while Sentry Mode offers added security for the vehicle when parked in busy urban areas.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants sports car speed in a family-friendly SUV, this GCC-spec Model Y Performance is a technically sound and resale-ready choice that perfectly suits the UAE's high-tech infrastructure.
