Summary

This 2022 Model Y Long Range is the definitive choice for GCC buyers looking to transition to electric without compromising on inter-city capability. Finished in White—the most heat-reflective and highest-resale color in the region—it remains highly desirable in the used market. The Long Range trim is widely considered the sweet spot for the UAE, providing all-wheel-drive stability and the range necessary for comfortable Dubai-Abu Dhabi commutes. Despite the mileage, the dual-motor powertrain and battery thermal management are specifically engineered for longevity in high-temperature environments. For those seeking a tech-forward family SUV that avoids petrol costs and heavy maintenance, this GCC-spec example offers a proven, practical entry point.

This Car vs Other 2022 Model Ys

With 116,000 km, this vehicle has been used consistently for long-range commuting, which is typical for highway-heavy driving in the GCC. While the mileage is higher than average, the battery health in GCC-spec models is protected by Tesla's robust active cooling systems designed for extreme heat. The White exterior is a significant advantage for local resale value, as it is the most requested color in the UAE used car market.

LONG RANGE vs Lower Trims

The Long Range trim upgrades the driving experience with a Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive system, offering superior traction on sand-dusted roads compared to the standard Rear-Wheel Drive. It also features the Premium Audio system with 13 speakers and a subwoofer, alongside a larger battery pack that adds significant range for cross-border trips. Standard interior benefits include heated seats for all five passengers and a tinted panoramic glass roof with high UV protection.

Model Y vs Segment Rivals

The Model Y leads the segment in cargo versatility, offering a massive 854 liters of rear boot space plus a 117-liter front 'frunk', surpassing the storage capacity of the BMW iX3 and Audi Q4 e-tron. Its proprietary Supercharger network remains the most reliable fast-charging infrastructure across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the Model Y's minimalist software-driven cabin provides a level of tech integration and remote functionality that traditional luxury rivals have yet to match.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are exceptionally low as the vehicle requires no oil changes, spark plugs, or transmission fluid services, with maintenance limited to cabin filters and tire rotations every 10,000 km. In the GCC, electricity costs for home charging offer substantial savings over Super 98 petrol for high-mileage drivers. While Teslas experienced a global pricing adjustment, GCC-spec models retain a premium of 15-20% over American-spec imports due to regional warranty support and CCS2 charging compatibility.

Performance & Capability

Performance is immediate with 0-100 km/h achieved in 5.0 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving highways like E11. The Dual Motor setup ensures precise power distribution between the front and rear wheels, maintaining composure during heavy rain or on loose gravel surfaces. With a top speed of 217 km/h and a low center of gravity due to the floor-mounted battery, the Model Y handles with a level of agility rarely found in mid-size SUVs.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the Gulf climate, featuring a powerful electric air conditioning system that can be activated via the mobile app to pre-cool the interior to 20°C before you enter. The five-seat configuration offers generous legroom and a flat floor, making it ideal for families. Acoustic glass and a minimalist dashboard reduce cabin noise and visual clutter, ensuring a calm environment during long drives between Emirates.

Safety

Safety is a core strength, with the Model Y earning a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. The standard ADAS suite includes Autopilot features like emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist, which are vital for safety on multi-lane GCC highways. The rigid body structure and large crumple zones provide industry-leading impact protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This is the ideal opportunity for a high-mileage commuter to eliminate fuel costs with a GCC-spec Tesla that remains under battery and drive unit warranty.
