Summary

This 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range offers a sophisticated blend of performance and utility for the UAE market, finished in a resale-friendly Grey. As the Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant, it provides the ideal balance of dual-motor traction for high-speed highway stability and a larger battery pack for long-distance travel between emirates. While this is a Chinese-spec import, it delivers the same minimalist cabin and industry-leading technology that has made the Model Y a segment leader. For buyers looking to transition to electric, this SUV offers massive cargo space and refined road manners. It represents a significant value opportunity for those prioritizing range and modern tech over official local warranty status.

This Car vs Other 2022 Model Ys

With 166,000 km, this vehicle has served as a high-mileage highway commuter, which is common for GCC-based EVs used for inter-city travel. While the mileage is higher than the regional average of 25,000 km per year, Tesla's electric drivetrain lacks the complex wear components of traditional engines, making it mechanically resilient. The Grey exterior is one of the strongest resale colors in the UAE, maintaining its appeal and value better than bolder finishes.

LONG RANGE vs Lower Trims

The Long Range trim is a significant step up from the standard Rear-Wheel Drive model, featuring a larger battery for increased range and a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive system that improves handling on wet or sandy tarmac. It also includes the premium audio system with 13 speakers and a subwoofer, providing a noticeably more immersive cabin experience than the base trim. Additionally, the Long Range benefits from higher peak DC charging speeds, reducing time spent at Superchargers during long trips.

Model Y vs Segment Rivals

The Model Y leads rivals like the BMW iX3 and Mercedes EQC in pure software integration and charging infrastructure access. Its storage capacity, including the 117-liter 'frunk,' offers superior practicality for family road trips compared to most European electric crossovers. While rivals may offer more traditional luxury materials, the Tesla provides a more seamless digital experience and better overall energy efficiency for GCC highway driving.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world energy consumption typically averages around 17 kWh/100km, offering massive fuel savings over petrol SUVs in GCC stop-start traffic. As a Chinese-spec import, this vehicle is not covered by the Tesla UAE official warranty, and buyers should use third-party adapters for local CCS2 charging stations. Historically, Chinese-spec Teslas in the UAE trade at a 15–25% discount compared to GCC-spec units, which is already reflected in the competitive entry price for this 2022 model.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with 400 horsepower, this SUV reaches 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11. The dual-motor AWD system provides intelligent torque distribution, ensuring composed handling during the rare UAE rain or on gravel-strewn desert access roads. Its top speed is electronically limited to 217 km/h, ensuring it remains comfortable and stable at sustained cruising speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat interior is headlined by a massive panoramic glass roof and a 15-inch central touchscreen that controls all vehicle functions. For the GCC climate, the powerful climate control system can be pre-activated via the mobile app, ensuring the cabin is chilled before you enter during summer months. The synthetic leather seats are durable and easy to maintain, while the flat floor design provides class-leading legroom for all passengers.

Safety

This Model Y comes standard with Tesla's comprehensive safety suite, including emergency braking, collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring, which are essential for multi-lane Dubai traffic. The vehicle structure is designed for maximum impact protection, earning top safety ratings globally. Adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist make long desert highway drives significantly less fatiguing for the driver.

The bottom line

For the tech-focused buyer who prioritizes range and performance, this high-mileage Model Y Long Range offers the best value-per-kilometer in the current UAE electric market.
