Toyota FJ Cruiser GXR | GCC Specs | Low Mileage | Under Warranty

Highlights

• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials
• 159-litre fuel tank capacity
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 4-year-old FJ Cruiser GXR is a standout find in the GCC market, offering the rare combination of high-spec refinement and legendary off-road hardware. With just 69,153 km, the mileage is exceptionally low for a regional workhorse of this age, where 20,000 km per year is the norm. The GXR trim adds critical comfort and safety features that elevate it above the base models, while the white exterior ensures maximum heat reflection and the strongest possible resale value in the local market. For those seeking a modern version of a discontinued icon, this late-model V6 remains the ultimate choice for both desert expeditions and reliable daily use across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2022 FJ Cruisers

At 69,153 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 80,000–100,000 km expected for a 4-year-old SUV in the GCC. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, providing better thermal management in summer and maintaining a price premium over darker alternatives. Finding a 2022 model with this specific mileage and regional specification offers a distinct mechanical advantage for long-term ownership.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a major technology and comfort boost over the base EXR, most notably adding a 360-degree panoramic view monitor which is essential for navigating tight city parking and technical off-road trails. Inside, you benefit from upgraded upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, along with a superior 12.3-inch infotainment display featuring wireless smartphone integration. Safety is also significantly enhanced on this GXR with the inclusion of the full Toyota Safety Sense suite.

FJ Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Jeep Wrangler offer open-top driving, the FJ Cruiser leads the segment in long-distance touring capability thanks to its massive 159-litre dual fuel tank system that provides nearly double the range of a Nissan Xterra. Its Toyota Land Cruiser-derived chassis offers a more refined highway ride than the Wrangler's solid front axle, making it a better choice for cross-emirate travel. Furthermore, the FJ’s air conditioning system is widely regarded as the most effective in the class for handling 45°C+ summer peaks.

Running Costs & Resale

The FJ Cruiser is famous for its 'bulletproof' resale value in the GCC, often retaining 70-90% of its value even after several years of use. Fuel consumption typically averages around 12.5 L/100km on the highway, rising toward 18 L/100km in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Maintenance is straightforward and affordable, with specialized Toyota service centers available in every major GCC city and parts widely stocked by third-party retailers, ensuring minimal downtime.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 engine produces 270 hp and 380 Nm of torque, providing plenty of power for high-speed highway overtaking and conquering steep dunes. Its true strength lies in its specialized off-road hardware, featuring a part-time 4WD system with a dedicated low-range transfer case and a locking rear differential. With a 245 mm ground clearance and high approach angles, it is purpose-built for weekend trips to Liwa or technical wadi driving in Oman.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for durability and ease of cleaning after a day in the sand, but the GXR trim adds necessary touches of refinement. It features powerful dual-zone climate control with excellent air-flow, ensuring the interior cools down rapidly even after being parked in direct sunlight. The high seating position and large side mirrors provide a commanding view of the road, while the 12.3-inch screen keeps you connected during long desert drives.

Safety

This GXR comes equipped with a comprehensive safety package including multiple airbags and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to maintain traction on sand and gravel. The Toyota Safety Sense suite adds high-speed essentials like Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and a Blind Spot Monitor, which are vital for safety on fast-moving GCC highways. The 360-degree camera system further aids in visibility, compensating for the vehicle's unique retro styling.

The bottom line

This 2022 GXR is the ideal opportunity for a buyer who wants a near-new FJ Cruiser with low mileage and the highest regional equipment level before this legendary model disappears from the market.
