Summary

This 2022 Toyota Fortuner EXR offers the ideal balance of legendary Japanese reliability and a 7-seat configuration that is perfect for growing GCC families. With its durable 2.7-litre engine and body-on-frame construction, it is a robust alternative to softer monocoque crossovers, specifically engineered for the heat and varied terrain of the region. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, significantly aiding cabin cooling while ensuring the strongest possible resale value at your next exit. At 4 years old, this Fortuner remains a mechanically sound investment that is equally comfortable on long inter-emirate highway runs as it is on light weekend desert trails. For those seeking a long-term vehicle that prioritizes low maintenance costs and high reliability, this listing is a definitive choice.

This Car vs Other 2022 Fortuners

At 112,000 km, the mileage on this vehicle is squarely within the average range for a 4-year-old GCC-based SUV, where long-distance commuting is typical. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, providing a dual advantage of reflecting intense solar heat and maintaining high demand in the secondary market. Buyers will find this model more mechanically settled than higher-mileage V6 variants, offering a more predictable maintenance path for long-term ownership.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR trim serves as the gateway to Fortuner's 4WD capability, providing essential ruggedness without the complexity of higher trims. Unlike basic export or commercial grades, this GCC EXR includes critical features like cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, and steering wheel audio controls. It maintains the essential mechanical locking features and dual-zone manual AC with dedicated rear vents that are mandatory for comfortable regional use.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

The Fortuner leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Nissan X-Terra in terms of sheer chassis durability and long-term parts availability across all seven GCC nations. Its 80-litre fuel tank offers superior range for long desert highway stretches compared to many lighter crossovers in the same price bracket. While competitors may focus on soft-touch interior plastics, the Fortuner prioritizes a body-on-frame architecture that is far more resilient to the stresses of sandy terrain and gravel roads.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7-litre petrol engine typically averages between 12.1 and 12.4 L/100km, providing a balance of power and efficiency for the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are standardized at 10,000 km or 6 months at any authorized GCC Toyota center, ensuring the easiest possible maintenance schedule in the region. Historically, the Fortuner retains approximately 73% of its value after three years, outperforming European rivals by a significant margin and making it one of the safest financial decisions in the used SUV market.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the 2.7-litre 2TR-FE engine, this Fortuner produces 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque, focused on consistent delivery rather than outright speed. The part-time 4WD system and high ground clearance allow for confident weekend adventures into the desert and easy navigation of unpaved paths. Its 6-speed automatic transmission is geared for steady power distribution, making it a dependable workhorse for highway overtaking and towing light family trailers across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to accommodate 7 passengers with a versatile folding third row that allows for significant cargo expansion when required. Toyota’s localized cooling system is a standout, featuring powerful air conditioning with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling during peak summer heat. Durable fabric seating is utilized to stay cool to the touch even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight, providing a more practical experience than leather for the GCC climate.

Safety

Safety is anchored by a robust suite including Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (VSC), and Traction Control, which are vital for maintaining composure on sandy or rain-slicked roads. This EXR trim comes standard with dual front airbags and a driver's knee airbag to provide essential protection for all occupants. Furthermore, the inclusion of ISOFIX child seat anchors and rear parking sensors makes it a secure and practical choice for daily family transportation.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who values mechanical integrity and market-leading resale over digital gimmicks, this 4-year-old Fortuner is a secure and practical investment for family life.
