Toyota Fortuner EXR 2.7L V4 Model 2022 Petrol

Highlights

• 279 mm ground clearance
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2022 Fortuner EXR represents a sensible entry into the region's most trusted SUV family, balancing true off-road capability with manageable running costs. At just 4 years old and with mileage well below the GCC annual average, it offers significantly more mechanical life than typical high-highway-use listings. The white exterior remains the most sought-after color for local resale, effectively reflecting the desert sun to keep cabin temperatures stable. While rivals may offer more gadgetry, the Fortuner's body-on-frame construction ensures it handles the heat and terrain of the UAE better than monocoque crossovers. This is a reliable, family-ready 7-seater that prioritizes long-term durability over temporary trends.

This Car vs Other 2022 Fortuners

With only 20,580 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven roughly 5,145 km per year—far below the typical 20,000–25,000 km GCC average. This low-mileage status makes it a standout choice for buyers seeking a near-fresh mechanical state. The white paint is the strongest resale color in the regional market, ensuring maximum demand when it comes time to trade in.

EXR vs Lower Trims

As the foundational 4WD trim, the EXR focuses on core utility while adding essential GCC comforts like cruise control and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While it swaps the V6's leather for heat-resistant fabric, it retains the critical rear AC vents and 17-inch alloy wheels that are better suited for soaking up road imperfections than the larger wheels found on higher trims.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Nissan X-Terra, the Fortuner leads in total cost of ownership due to the sheer density of the Toyota service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While some rivals offer more gears or softer suspension, the Fortuner's robust 2.7L engine is legendary for its ability to withstand extreme summer temperatures without the complexity of turbochargers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L 4-cylinder engine is designed for reliability in stop-start city traffic, with real-world fuel consumption averaging approximately 12.1 L/100km. Toyota parts are the most readily available in the region, keeping routine maintenance affordable at any authorized center from Abu Dhabi to Muscat. Historically, this model retains about 73% of its value after three years, outperforming European and American competitors in the local used market.

Performance & Capability

With 279 mm of ground clearance, this SUV is ready for weekend desert excursions that would stop most city crossovers. The selectable Four Wheel Drive system and 164 hp powertrain provide a dependable platform for both highway cruising and light off-roading. Its body-on-frame construction is borrowed from the Hilux, giving it a towing capacity and structural rigidity that ensures it won't rattle after years of use on unpaved surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is highly flexible, featuring a third row that stows to the side to create 296 liters of cargo space for family trips. The air conditioning is specifically engineered for the Gulf, featuring dedicated vents for both second and third-row passengers to ensure rapid cooling during summer. The fabric seats are a practical choice for the climate, as they remain significantly cooler to the touch than leather after the car has been parked in the sun.

Safety

Safety is managed through a suite of essential active systems including Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and Hill-start Assist Control. This trim comes standard with dual front airbags and a knee airbag for the driver. For highway safety, cruise control and rear parking sensors are included to assist in fast-moving traffic and tight urban parking scenarios.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing family or a first-time SUV buyer, this low-mileage Fortuner EXR offers the best balance of Toyota reliability and local resale strength available today.
