Summary

This 2022 Land Cruiser VX represents a prime opportunity for GCC buyers looking for the latest 300-series platform with the high-torque diesel powertrain. In a market where white is the undisputed king of resale value, this specific example is positioned to hold its equity exceptionally well over time. The VX trim is the sweet spot of the range, offering the premium 12.3-inch touchscreen and four-zone climate control that are essential for local summer conditions. Compared to petrol rivals, this twin-turbo diesel provides superior highway range for long-distance trips across the Emirates or beyond. For a used buyer in the region, the combination of Toyota's massive service network and this car's relatively recent model year makes it a secure long-term investment.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

As a 2022 model, this vehicle benefits from being part of the initial 300-series rollout, featuring a significantly lighter chassis and more advanced tech than the outgoing 200-series. In the GCC, where annual mileage often reaches 25,000 km, a well-maintained diesel version is highly sought after for its durability. The white exterior is the most practical choice for the local climate, reflecting heat and ensuring the highest possible demand when it comes time to trade in.

VX vs Lower Trims

The VX trim provides a significant leap in cabin technology over the GXR, most notably replacing the smaller display with a high-definition 12.3-inch infotainment screen. It also adds a more robust four-zone climate control system, ensuring that passengers in all three rows stay cool during peak GCC summer months. Additionally, the VX includes the 3D Multi-Terrain Monitor and ventilated front seats as standard, features that are often optional or absent on lower grades.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

While the Nissan Patrol remains its primary competitor, the Land Cruiser 300-series sets itself apart with a 110-litre fuel capacity that is ideal for cross-border desert drives. The Toyota also leads the segment in resale value retention and authorized service center density across the entire GCC, including smaller towns where European rivals have no presence. Its 700 Nm of torque from the diesel V6 outmuscles many naturally aspirated V8 competitors, particularly when towing or climbing dunes.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.3L diesel engine offers an official combined consumption of approximately 8.9 L/100km, making it significantly more efficient than petrol V8 predecessors in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Toyota’s authorized service network is the most extensive in the region, with service intervals typically every 10,000 km. Historically, the Land Cruiser retains roughly 80-85% of its value after three years in the GCC, significantly outperforming luxury European SUVs which can lose up to 15-20% annually.

Performance & Capability

With 700 Nm of torque available from as low as 1,600 rpm, this SUV delivers effortless overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11. It features a 235 mm ground clearance and an approach angle of 32 degrees, ensuring it remains a dominant force for weekend off-roading in the Liwa or Fossil Rock dunes. The 10-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned to keep the engine in its power band, whether you are towing a heavy trailer or navigating soft sand.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for family logistics, featuring a power-folding third row and a center console cool box to keep beverages chilled during long drives. For the GCC market, the four-zone automatic climate control is a standout, allowing individual temperature settings for front and rear passengers to combat extreme heat. Synthetic leather upholstery in the VX is chosen for its durability and ease of cleaning after desert trips, while acoustic glass helps maintain a quiet environment even at high highway speeds.

Safety

This trim is equipped with the full Toyota Safety Sense suite, including a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection and Lane Tracing Assist, which are highly effective on long desert highway stretches. It also features a 360-degree camera system that is invaluable for parking such a large vehicle in tight urban spaces or navigating technical off-road obstacles. Standard safety equipment includes 10 airbags and Blind Spot Monitoring to handle the fast-paced lane changes typical of major GCC cities.

The bottom line

For the buyer who demands a modern 300-series with the highest torque output and the best resale color in the UAE, this Land Cruiser VX is a bulletproof choice. It bridges the gap between a workhorse and a luxury cruiser, making it the perfect all-rounder for a resident family or an overland enthusiast.
