Summary

This 2023 Chevrolet Captiva Premier is a highly practical choice for growing families in the GCC, offering a modern aesthetic and seven-seat versatility at a very competitive price point. The Premier trim ensures you get the most premium tech available, including the signature vertical infotainment screen and a full surround-view camera that makes city parking effortless. With mileage reflecting typical highway-heavy usage between emirates, this vehicle remains in its mechanical prime for the local climate. Black is a consistently strong resale color in the UAE, ensuring your investment holds its ground when it is time to upgrade. For the cost-conscious buyer who refuses to sacrifice modern cabin tech or safety, this Captiva stands out as a high-value workhorse.

This Car vs Other 2023 Captivas

With 84,350 km on the odometer, this Captiva has been driven slightly more than the regional average of 20,000 km per year, likely reflecting consistent highway commutes which are often easier on the engine than stop-start city traffic. The black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale in the UAE and wider GCC, typically commanding a faster sale than more niche colors. Choosing a 2023 model allows you to benefit from the latest generation's refinement while the first owner has already absorbed the steepest part of the depreciation curve.

Premier vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the LS and LT variants by introducing a 7-inch digital driver information center and the impressive 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen. It is the only trim to feature the 360-degree surround-view camera, a crucial tool for navigating tight parking spaces in Dubai or Riyadh. You also gain 18-inch alloy wheels and an electric parking brake, features that provide both a more upscale look and better daily convenience.

Captiva vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Toyota Rush or Mitsubishi Xpander, the Captiva leads with its turbocharged 1.5L engine, providing 230 Nm of torque for more confident highway overtaking. It also offers a significantly larger boot capacity of 847 litres with the third row stowed, outclassing the Rush's cargo volume for family road trips. While rivals prioritize simplicity, the Captiva leads on interior technology, offering a much larger and more responsive infotainment interface standard in this trim.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5L turbo engine delivers a verified fuel economy of 13.4 km/L, which is efficient for a seven-seater in GCC stop-start traffic. Chevrolet maintains a vast authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and maintenance is straightforward. In the GCC market, the Captiva typically retains approximately 68% of its value over the first three years, making it a stable asset in the budget SUV segment. The GCC regional spec ensures that the cooling system and warranty are fully optimized for the extreme summer heat.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, the Captiva produces 144 hp and 230 Nm of torque, delivered smoothly through a CVT. This setup is specifically tuned for on-road efficiency and comfort during long desert highway drives rather than off-road dunes. With a 52-litre fuel tank, you can expect a reliable range for inter-city travel across the Emirates. The front-wheel-drive platform provides a stable, car-like handling experience that is easy for any driver to manage in urban environments.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC family logistics, featuring dedicated AC vents for all three rows to ensure every passenger stays cool during the peak of summer. The Premier trim includes a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and premium upholstery that holds up well against the local sun. A panoramic sunroof allows for plenty of natural light during the winter months, while the flat-folding rear seats provide the flexibility to switch from a seven-passenger hauler to a cargo-ready SUV in seconds.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive in the Premier trim, featuring four airbags, tire pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX child seat anchors across the rear rows. The 360-degree camera system is paired with front and rear parking sensors to provide total visibility, while electronic stability control and hill-start assist come standard. These systems are particularly valuable for maintaining traction on sandy road shoulders or navigating the fast-paced multi-lane highways of the GCC.

The bottom line

This 2023 Captiva Premier is the perfect fit for a family seeking maximum seating and modern tech without the premium price tag of larger SUVs. As a GCC-spec vehicle in the most popular resale color, it offers a secure and practical entry into seven-seat ownership.
