Summary

This 2023 Chevrolet Captiva Premier is a highly practical choice for GCC families, offering seven seats in a modern, fuel-efficient package. With its Starry Twinkle Black exterior—a high-demand color for resale in the local market—and mileage that sits comfortably at the expected average for a two-year-old vehicle in the region, it presents a balanced ownership proposition. As the top-tier Premier trim, it elevates the daily commute with tech-focused features like a 360-degree camera and a panoramic sunroof that are often missing in its rivals. For buyers navigating the busy highways of the UAE or Saudi Arabia, the turbocharged engine provides the necessary punch while maintaining some of the best fuel economy figures in the three-row crossover segment. This GCC-spec example benefits from the widespread Chevrolet authorized service network, ensuring long-term peace of mind across the region.

This Car vs Other 2023 Captivas

With just under 60,000 km, this vehicle aligns perfectly with the GCC average of 25,000–30,000 km per year, indicating consistent highway use rather than harsh city-only idling. The Black exterior is a top-tier resale color in the UAE and KSA markets, often commanding a quicker sale and better value retention than bolder, niche colors. Choosing a Premier trim from this model year ensures you have the most updated infotainment and safety sensors available for this generation.

PREMIER vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim significantly upgrades the cabin experience over the LS and LT, replacing cloth with leather-appointed seating and adding a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Tech-wise, it introduces the 360-degree surround-view camera and front parking sensors, which are essential for maneuvering a 7-seater in tight mall parking. You also get the larger 7-inch digital driver information display and the panoramic sunroof, which are unavailable on the base LS models.

Captiva vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Rush or Mitsubishi Xpander, the Captiva leads with a 1.5L turbocharged engine that offers superior torque for highway overtaking. Its 52-liter fuel tank and larger exterior dimensions provide a more substantial road presence and significantly more boot space (up to 1,051 liters with the third row folded) than the Rush. While rivals focus on simplicity, the Captiva Premier prioritizes modern tech integration like Apple CarPlay and a more refined, turbocharged drive.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.5T engine averages around 13.4 km/L, making it one of the most efficient ways to transport seven people across long GCC distances. Chevrolet’s authorized service network, including Al Ghandi and Bin Hamoodah in the UAE or Aljomaih in Saudi Arabia, offers transparent maintenance with 10,000 km intervals. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it maintains a stronger value floor than imported American-spec versions, typically depreciating at a competitive 12–15% annually.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces a verified 143 hp and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth CVT designed for fuel-efficient cruising. It handles the UAE’s fast-paced highway traffic with ease, reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. While strictly a front-wheel-drive crossover, its 176 mm ground clearance is more than sufficient for gravel tracks and weekend family trips to the farm or beach outskirts.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC summers, featuring dedicated AC vents for both the second and third rows to ensure all seven passengers stay cool. The Premier trim’s grey interior theme and leatherette surfaces stay cooler than darker fabrics, while the 60/40 split-folding second row tumbles forward for easy access to the back. Every row includes USB charging ports, a vital feature for keeping family devices powered during long inter-emirate drives.

Safety

The Captiva Premier is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including front and side airbags and a 360-degree camera system for total visibility. Standard stability control, traction control, and hill-start assist provide confidence on wet roads or sandy highway shoulders. It also features ISOFIX child seat anchors across the rear rows, making it a safe and compliant choice for growing families.

The bottom line

This Captiva Premier is the ideal match for a family looking for maximum seating and modern tech without the high fuel costs of a V6 SUV. As a GCC-spec, top-trim model in a high-resale color, it represents one of the smartest value-for-money opportunities in the current used market.
