Summary

This 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe LS is a standout choice for buyers seeking a modern, full-size SUV that balances high-capacity logistics with everyday road presence. The black exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the GCC, ensuring strong value retention when you eventually choose to upgrade. While currently at 70,000 km, this mileage reflects a typical long-distance highway life common in the region, meaning the mechanicals are well-settled and ready for years of service. It offers a more contemporary and tech-forward experience than the previous generation, making it a competitive alternative to newer rivals. For the UAE and wider GCC buyer, this Tahoe provides the essential combination of a powerful V8 and a massive cabin built for the desert summer.

This Car vs Other 2023 Tahoes

With 70,000 km on the odometer, this Tahoe sits slightly above the average annual mileage for a one-year-old vehicle in the GCC, which typically ranges from 20,000 to 25,000 km. However, in the local market, this is often viewed as a positive indicator of reliable highway use between emirates rather than stressful stop-start city wear. The Black Raven exterior is a primary value-driver in the UAE, consistently outperforming rarer colors during resale.

LS vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the Tahoe, the LS provides the essential V8 powertrain and heavy-duty 10-speed transmission found in much more expensive models. It uniquely offers the option for an eight-passenger layout that many higher luxury trims sacrifice for second-row buckets. Standard features that GCC buyers value, such as LED headlights and the Chevy Safety Assist suite, are included here without the premium price tag of the LT or Premier trims.

Tahoe vs Segment Rivals

The Tahoe leads segment rivals like the Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia in terms of interior cargo flexibility and third-row legroom, which is critical for large families in the region. Its 91-liter fuel tank is specifically designed for long-distance cruising across GCC borders, offering a superior highway range compared to many smaller-displacement turbocharged competitors. The mechanical simplicity of the naturally aspirated V8 remains a major trust factor for local buyers compared to complex hybrid alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.3L V8 features Dynamic Fuel Management, which allows the engine to operate on fewer cylinders during highway cruising to optimize consumption. In GCC conditions, you can expect a combined fuel economy of approximately 13.8 L/100km, with better efficiency during long Abu Dhabi-Dubai commutes. Chevrolet maintains one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with standard service intervals every 10,000 km. Historically, the Tahoe retains roughly 66% of its value after three years, making it one of the most stable investments in the full-size SUV category.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this Tahoe is the 355 hp V8 engine, delivering 519 Nm of torque that makes highway overtaking effortless, even with a full load of eight passengers. It boasts a massive 3,810 kg maximum towing capacity, making it ideal for hauling boats or trailers for weekend trips to the coast. The 10-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, providing a refined ride that masks the vehicle's truck-based durability.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is engineered for the heat, featuring a powerful tri-zone automatic climate control system that ensures rear passengers stay cool during peak summer months. All eight seats are upholstered in durable materials designed to withstand family use, and the acoustic laminated glass provides excellent insulation from exterior wind and road noise. Technology is front and center with an 8-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Safety

Safety is a priority with the standard Chevy Safety Assist suite, including Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. These systems are particularly valuable on multi-lane GCC highways where maintaining lane discipline at speed is vital. The Tahoe also features front and rear park assist and an HD rear vision camera to simplify maneuvering this large SUV in tight urban parking areas.

The bottom line

For a buyer who needs maximum seating and towing capability without the luxury-trim markup, this black Tahoe LS is the most practical and resale-secure entry point into the full-size SUV market today.
