Summary

This 2023 Durango GT offers a compelling balance of muscle-car presence and family-oriented practicality, featuring the refined 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine. With the vehicle age at 3 years and a mileage of 49,349 km, it sits well below the typical annual average for the region, representing a low-mileage opportunity for GCC buyers. The black exterior is a perennial favorite for resale in the local market, maintaining its aesthetic appeal and value better than bolder alternatives. As a GCC-spec model, it is factory-optimized for the intense summer heat, ensuring the air conditioning and engine cooling systems perform reliably under extreme conditions. For buyers seeking a three-row SUV that doesn't sacrifice personality for utility, this Durango stands out as a robust and well-maintained contender.

This Car vs Other 2023 Durangos

With just 49,349 km on the odometer, this Durango has averaged roughly 16,500 km per year, which is significantly lower than the 20,000–25,000 km annual average typical for GCC highway driving. The black exterior is one of the most liquid colors in the UAE and Saudi used markets, ensuring easier resale and stronger value retention compared to less traditional shades. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and warranty complications often associated with imported American-spec units.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim offers a significant step up from the base SXT, most notably upgrading the exterior with 20-inch alloy wheels and a blacked-out grille for a more aggressive road presence. Inside, it adds essential GCC conveniences like remote engine start for pre-cooling the cabin and a power liftgate for easier loading during shopping trips. It also standardizes the third-row seating, which is a key requirement for large families in the region.

Durango vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Ford Explorer and GMC Acadia, the Durango leads with a superior 93-litre fuel tank, providing extended range for long-distance desert highway cruises between Emirates. Its rear-wheel-drive architecture offers a more traditional American SUV driving feel and a higher towing capacity than many front-wheel-drive biased crossovers. The cabin design remains focused on physical controls, which are often preferred for their ease of use while wearing sunglasses or driving in bright sunlight.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 is well-regarded in the GCC for its mechanical simplicity and linear power delivery, making it easier to maintain at authorized centers across the UAE and wider region. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 12.4 L/100km, though this can vary during stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. The Durango GT typically sees a depreciation rate of approximately 12-15% annually, holding its value competitively within the mid-size SUV segment at the 3-year mark.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 295 horsepower, the Pentastar V6 provides smooth acceleration and reliable overtaking power on the UAE's fast-moving multi-lane highways. The 2,812 kg braked towing capacity makes it one of the most capable V6 SUVs in its class, suitable for hauling jet skis or small boats for weekend trips. Multiple drive modes and a load-leveling rear suspension ensure the vehicle stays composed whether fully loaded with seven passengers or cruising empty.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat configuration features three-zone automatic climate control with dedicated vents for all rows, an absolute necessity for passenger comfort during the peak GCC summer. The interior is finished with durable materials designed to withstand high UV exposure, while the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen provides seamless smartphone integration. Cabin insulation is a highlight, effectively muting road noise during high-speed cruises across the border.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the GT trim includes Blind-Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Path Detection, which are vital for navigating busy highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The vehicle is also equipped with rear parking sensors and a rearview camera to assist with maneuvering its 5-meter length in tight urban parking spaces. A comprehensive airbag system and electronic stability control provide peace of mind for family duties.

The bottom line

This is an ideal choice for a GCC family that needs seven seats and towing capability without the high running costs of a V8, benefiting from lower-than-average mileage and a high-resale color.
