Summary

The 2023 Infiniti QX55 ESSENTIAL represents a sophisticated blend of performance and luxury that resonates deeply with the modern GCC driver. As a fresh alternative to traditional crossovers, its coupe-inspired silhouette offers a distinct presence on the roads of Dubai and Riyadh. This specific model is a compelling find because it brings together the higher-tier ESSENTIAL equipment package with a capable All Wheel Drive system that provides confidence during rare wet weather or on gravel pathways. The Grey exterior is a highly strategic choice for the region, offering a balance between aesthetic elegance and practical heat management while maintaining strong resale demand in the used market. For a buyer looking for a premium Japanese vehicle that balances personality with the reliability expected in our climate, this example stands out as a turn-key solution. The combination of its low-stress powertrain and comprehensive technology suite makes it one of the most balanced ownership propositions currently available in the pre-owned segment.

This Car vs Other 2023 QX55s

When comparing this example to other 2023 models available in the GCC, the primary advantage lies in its specific configuration and careful balance of features. Given that most high-end crossovers in this region accumulate significant mileage through daily inter-emirate commuting, a well-maintained example from this production year is highly sought after. This vehicle retains its factory-fresh feel, which is particularly evident in the interior materials that have been shielded from the intense GCC sun. The grey finish is particularly well suited for our environment as it hides the fine desert dust better than darker hues while remaining far more modern and exclusive than basic white. Choosing a 2023 model ensures you are benefiting from the most refined iteration of this platform, with software updates and mechanical tuning that earlier models lacked. Compared to other listings, the overall condition and GCC-specific preparation of this car make it a standout choice for a discerning local buyer.

ESSENTIAL vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the ESSENTIAL trim is a decision that pays dividends every time you drive, particularly in the demanding climate of the Middle East. While lower trims provide the basics, the ESSENTIAL grade introduces a suite of upgrades that are considered 'must-haves' by seasoned GCC owners. This includes the enhanced Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, which is invaluable when navigating tight parking spots in busy malls or residential areas. You also receive the upgraded Bose Performance Series audio system, which transforms long desert highway drives into a concert-like experience with 16 strategically placed speakers. The cabin is further elevated with genuine leather-appointed seating and a heated steering wheel, alongside memory systems for the driver's seat and mirrors—features that add a layer of daily convenience rivals often leave out. For the resale market in this region, the ESSENTIAL trim is consistently the most requested configuration, ensuring better value retention over time.

QX55 vs Segment Rivals

The Infiniti QX55 competes in a crowded field against the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, and Audi Q5 Sportback, yet it carves out its own niche through Japanese engineering and unique technology. Where European rivals often rely on complex turbocharged setups that can be sensitive to extreme heat, the world's first mass-produced Variable Compression Turbo engine in this car offers a unique blend of power and efficiency. Its interior space is notably more generous than many of its German counterparts, particularly in terms of rear-seat slide and recline functionality which is vital for family comfort. The air conditioning system is also specifically tuned for the high-ambient temperatures of our region, often outperforming European competitors in reaching a comfortable cabin temperature quickly after being parked in the sun. Furthermore, the inclusion of a comprehensive All Wheel Drive system as standard provides a level of stability on sandy or rain-slicked roads that some entry-level rivals only offer as an expensive add-on.

Running Costs & Resale

Ownership of a GCC-spec Infiniti in this region is characterized by predictability and a strong support network. The 2L VC-Turbo engine is designed to deliver approximately 8.5 to 9.0 L/100km on long highway stretches like the E11, while city driving in heavy traffic may see figures closer to 11.5 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km or 6 months, and with a vast network of authorized Arabian Automobiles and Al Masaood service centers across the UAE and similar established distributors in KSA and Kuwait, maintenance is never a logistical challenge. Parts availability is excellent, which keeps long-term repair costs lower than boutique European brands. Historically, Infiniti models in the GCC experience a depreciation rate of roughly 12-15% annually, which is highly competitive within the luxury crossover segment. By the three-year mark, a well-looked-after ESSENTIAL trim model often retains a significantly higher percentage of its value compared to base-spec models due to its high feature density.

Performance & Capability

At the heart of the driving experience is the 268 horsepower engine, which provides effortless acceleration that is particularly useful for overtaking on fast-moving highways. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in a brisk 6.6 to 7.0 seconds, which is more than enough for confident city and highway integration. The Intelligent All Wheel Drive system is a standout feature for the region; it primarily sends power to the front wheels for efficiency but can divert up to 50% to the rear the moment any slip is detected—a common occurrence during the early winter rains or when parking on loose sand near the coast. With a respectable ground clearance, this crossover handles speed bumps, gravel paths, and uneven suburban terrain with ease. While not a dedicated off-roader, its ability to navigate light desert trails for a weekend picnic makes it a versatile companion for the GCC lifestyle. The CVT transmission has been specifically tuned to maintain optimal power delivery even when the external temperature is peaking.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the cabin is a sanctuary designed to combat the elements of the Arabian Peninsula. The dual-screen infotainment system allows you to manage navigation and climate control simultaneously, ensuring that the powerful air conditioning is always just a touch away. The seats are crafted with Infiniti’s 'Zero Gravity' technology, designed to reduce fatigue on the long drives between cities like Al Ain and Dubai. Rear passengers are treated to generous legroom and the ability to slide their seats back, a feature that makes the QX55 surprisingly practical for a coupe-styled SUV. Laminated side glass helps to isolate the cabin from the drone of highway tires and the whistle of desert winds, creating a quiet environment for the Bose audio system to shine. The power liftgate opens to a surprisingly deep boot, capable of swallowing luxury shopping bags or weekend luggage for a staycation at a desert resort with ease.

Safety

Safety is paramount in the high-speed environment of GCC roads, and the ESSENTIAL trim excels here. It comes standard with the ProPILOT Assist suite, which includes Intelligent Cruise Control and Steering Assist—perfect for reducing stress on the long, straight highways of the region. Blind Spot Warning and Intervention are critical tools when navigating the multi-lane interchanges of major cities, where traffic moves quickly and lane changes are frequent. The vehicle also features Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and a specialized Predictive Forward Collision Warning that can actually monitor the speed and distance of the two vehicles ahead, giving you extra seconds to react. High Beam Assist and Lane Departure Prevention round out a package that has earned top safety marks globally. This comprehensive approach to safety ensures that you and your passengers are protected by some of the most advanced technology available in the segment today.

The bottom line

This 2023 Infiniti QX55 ESSENTIAL is the perfect choice for the professional who wants the reliability of a Japanese powertrain without sacrificing the style of a European luxury coupe. With its GCC-ready specifications and high-tier trim, it offers incredible value and peace of mind for anyone looking to upgrade their daily commute in the region.
