Summary

This 2023 Kia Seltos LX is a standout choice for urban professionals and small families seeking a modern, fuel-efficient crossover. Finished in classic Black—a highly desirable resale color in the GCC—this vehicle combines sharp styling with a balanced 1.5L powertrain optimized for daily efficiency. While the mileage reflects active use, the car benefits from Kia's robust regional parts availability and straightforward maintenance requirements, ensuring long-term reliability. It offers a practical alternative to larger SUVs without sacrificing the elevated driving position and road presence essential for navigating GCC traffic. For those prioritizing low running costs and strong brand support, this Seltos represents one of the most sensible entries into the compact SUV market.

This Car vs Other 2023 Seltos

With 84,347 km on the odometer, this Seltos has been driven more than the global average but remains within typical usage patterns for the GCC, where long-range highway commuting is standard. Its Black exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, ensuring it stays relevant and easy to trade in when the time comes for an upgrade. This specific unit provides a younger model year advantage, giving you access to the latest styling and cabin technology at a more accessible entry point.

LX vs Lower Trims

As a core trim in the GCC lineup, the LX provides essential modern conveniences that basic export models often lack, including a rear-view camera and 17-inch alloy wheels. You benefit from a refined 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, which is a major upgrade over the base audio setups. Additionally, the LX features cruise control—a critical feature for maintaining steady speeds on the UAE’s multi-lane highway network.

Seltos vs Segment Rivals

The Seltos leads rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks by offering one of the most generous boot capacities in its class, reaching 433 litres for versatile family storage. Its 1.5L Smartstream engine is specifically tuned for smoothness and efficiency, often outperforming competitors in stop-start city traffic economy. Furthermore, Kia’s rapidly expanding service infrastructure in the region offers shorter wait times for parts compared to many emerging segment entrants.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are a primary strength, with a manufacturer-claimed combined fuel efficiency of 5.7 L/100km, making it one of the most economical petrol SUVs in the region. The Seltos historically retains about 81% of its value over the first three years in the GCC market, performing better than many European subcompact rivals. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by a vast network of authorized centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder engine producing 113 hp, the Seltos is engineered for smooth, linear power delivery ideal for city navigation and steady highway cruising. The Front Wheel Drive layout paired with a 190mm ground clearance allows it to handle gravel paths and speed humps with ease, though it remains firmly road-biased for maximum comfort. Its 50-litre fuel tank ensures a substantial driving range, reducing the frequency of station visits during long inter-emirate trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to withstand the GCC heat, featuring a high-output air conditioning system and dedicated rear cooling vents to keep all five passengers comfortable. Durable fabric upholstery is used in the LX trim, which stays significantly cooler than leather during the peak summer months. Interior tech is focused on the driver, with steering-wheel-mounted controls and a clear digital trip computer for monitoring fuel efficiency in real-time.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive for the segment, featuring standard Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) to prevent rollback on inclined junctions. The inclusion of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is particularly valuable for the GCC climate, where high road temperatures affect tire expansion. Dual front airbags and a reinforced steel chassis provide essential passive protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This Seltos LX is the ideal match for a budget-conscious buyer who wants a relatively new, high-resale SUV with the peace of mind provided by Kia's extensive GCC service network.
