Summary

This 2023 Kia Seltos LX is a prime example of a modern compact crossover that balances urban agility with the space a growing family needs. While many subcompacts feel cramped, the Seltos offers class-leading legroom and a generous boot, making it a highly practical choice for daily UAE commuting. The grey exterior is a strong choice for the local market, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining better resale appeal than more niche colors. Powered by a reliable 1.6-litre engine, it provides a cost-effective ownership experience without sacrificing the tech essentials that GCC buyers prioritize. For anyone seeking a nearly-new crossover with a proven track record for durability in extreme heat, this Seltos is a standout candidate.

This Car vs Other 2023 Seltos

With 110,853 km on the odometer, this Seltos has been a consistent highway performer, a typical trait for vehicles moving between the Emirates. While this mileage is higher than the average for its age, it indicates a car that has been regularly driven and maintained rather than sitting idle, which is often better for mechanical longevity in the GCC climate.

LX vs Lower Trims

As a key volume trim, the LX adds essential comforts over entry-level variants, including steering wheel-mounted controls and a more refined infotainment interface. It strikes the perfect balance for the GCC market by providing the ground clearance and presence of an SUV without the added maintenance complexity of high-end electronic features found in top-tier trims.

Seltos vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Hyundai Creta or Nissan Kicks, the Seltos leads with a more sophisticated interior design and superior rear-seat headroom. Its 1.6-litre powertrain is specifically tuned for efficiency in stop-start city traffic, while its wider stance provides better stability on high-speed desert highways compared to its more compact rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The Seltos is one of the most cost-effective SUVs to run in the GCC, benefiting from Kia's massive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. It typically requires servicing every 10,000 km, with parts being readily available and affordable. The model enjoys strong value retention, often depreciating at just 10-12% annually, significantly outperforming many European rivals in the same segment.

Performance & Capability

The 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine is a workhorse, delivering smooth power through an automatic transmission that is well-suited for the long, straight hauls between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With 185 mm of ground clearance, it confidently handles high speed bumps and gravel tracks leading to weekend getaway spots. While it is front-wheel drive, the elevated driving position and capable suspension make it feel robust on varied road surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Seltos is designed for the long-haul comfort required in the Middle East, featuring high-output air conditioning that cools the cabin rapidly even in peak summer. The 433-litre boot is surprisingly large for its class, easily accommodating groceries or weekend travel gear. Sound-absorbing windshield glass helps keep the cabin quiet during high-speed highway cruising, insulating passengers from road and wind noise.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive, featuring multiple airbags and a reinforced high-strength steel chassis. The LX trim includes a rearview camera for easier parking in tight city spots and Electronic Stability Control, which is vital for maintaining grip on sandy or oil-slicked roads during the region's occasional rain. Standard ISOFIX anchors also make it a safe and ready choice for young families.

The bottom line

This Seltos LX is the ideal match for a practical buyer who needs a reliable, GCC-ready crossover that holds its value and stays affordable to maintain.
