Summary

This 2023 Lotus Emira First Edition is a rare opportunity to own the final internal combustion chapter of the legendary British marque. With just 12,975 km on the clock, this three-year-old example has been driven sparingly compared to the typical 20,000+ km annual average seen in the GCC. The Seneca Blue exterior is not only the model's launch color but also a highly desirable shade for resale in the local market. As a First Edition, it comes fully loaded with premium features that elevate it beyond a standard sports car into a true daily-usable exotic. For the UAE driver, it offers a visceral mid-engine experience that stands out from the more common German alternatives found on the E11.

This Car vs Other 2023 Emiras

At roughly 13,000 km, this Emira represents very low usage for a 2023 model in the GCC, where long-distance commutes often push annual mileage much higher. While many First Edition models were ordered with manual gearboxes, this automatic variant is perfectly suited for the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh, offering effortless shifts without sacrificing the car's balanced dynamics. The Seneca Blue finish is the definitive launch color, ensuring strong attention and value retention among local collectors.

FIRST EDITION vs Lower Trims

The First Edition is a high-spec launch variant that includes several expensive option groups as standard, most notably the Lower Black Pack and the Design Pack. It upgrades the cabin with a 10-channel, 340W KEF premium audio system and 12-way power-adjustable heated seats with memory—features rarely found on the more spartan base trims. You also benefit from the Convenience Pack, which adds a rear-view camera and front parking sensors that are essential for navigating tight mall parking structures in the UAE.

Emira vs Segment Rivals

The Emira is often cross-shopped with the Porsche 718 Cayman and the Alpine A110, but it leads both in pure exotic presence and visual drama. Its supercharged V6 offers a more linear power delivery and a unique acoustic signature compared to the turbocharged four-cylinders of its rivals. While the Porsche 911 is a common sight in the GCC, the Emira provides a level of exclusivity and 'supercar' styling that makes every arrival an event.

Running Costs & Resale

The supercharged V6 returns approximately 11.3 L/100km (WLTP), though expect higher consumption in heavy city traffic with the air conditioning at full blast. It requires high-octane 98 RON fuel to maintain peak performance in the desert heat. Lotus has established authorized service centers in major GCC hubs like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with 12-month or 16,000 km service intervals. As the last petrol-powered Lotus, the Emira is expected to follow a unique depreciation curve, holding its value better than previous Lotus models due to its broader daily-driver appeal.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp supercharged engine provides immediate throttle response, reaching a top speed of 290 km/h, which is more than enough for high-speed highway cruising. Unlike most modern cars that use electric steering, the Emira retains a hydraulic power steering rack, providing a level of feedback and precision that is perfect for weekend drives on the Jebel Jais mountain roads. The 20-inch forged alloy wheels and lightweight aluminum chassis ensure that despite its added luxury, it remains one of the most agile cars in its class.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Emira features a 12.3-inch digital cockpit and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with full smartphone integration. The air conditioning system is notably robust, designed to cope with modern expectations and the high temperatures of the GCC summer. The cabin is trimmed in high-quality materials including Nappa leather and Alcantara, providing a premium feel that was often missing in older Lotus models. Despite being a two-seater, there is usable storage space behind the seats and in the rear boot for a weekend trip to Fujairah.

Safety

This Emira is equipped with a modern suite of safety features including a 360-degree parking sensor array and a high-definition reversing camera. For high-speed highway safety, it includes cruise control and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as standard. The lightweight bonded aluminum chassis provides exceptional structural rigidity, while front and side airbags ensure occupant protection. Its advanced stability and traction control systems are specifically tuned to provide a safety net without dulling the car's sports-focused handling.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants the drama of a supercar with the usability of a premium coupe, this low-mileage First Edition is the ultimate GCC-spec finale to the petrol Lotus era. It is a rare, high-spec investment that feels just as comfortable on the daily commute as it does on a mountain pass.
