Summary

This Nissan X-Terra Platinum is a standout choice for GCC buyers seeking a modern, rugged SUV that balances desert capability with family comfort. As the top-tier trim, it features premium leather interiors and advanced safety tech that isn't available on lower versions, while the black exterior remains a highly desirable choice for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets. With mileage that reflects typical highway use in the region, this 2023 model is mechanically seasoned for local conditions and offers significant savings over its new-car price. The 2.5L engine is specifically tuned for durability, ensuring reliable performance during high-temperature summer commutes across the Emirates. For those prioritizing a long-term family workhorse with strong regional support, this Platinum edition offers the complete package.

This Car vs Other 2023 X-Terras

With 69,212 km, this vehicle sits within the average range for a two-year-old SUV in the GCC, where long-distance highway travel between cities is standard. Its black exterior is one of the strongest resale colors in the local market, ensuring better value retention compared to niche shades. Being a GCC-spec Platinum trim, it avoids the warranty and parts compatibility issues often found with imported American or European variants.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim is the definitive upgrade for GCC drivers, adding a 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor and a larger 9-inch touchscreen with integrated Navigation. Unlike the SE or Titanium, it comes standard with machine-cut 18-inch alloy wheels and premium leather-appointed Zero Gravity seats. It also includes the full Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety suite, offering blind-spot monitoring and lane departure warnings that are essential for high-speed highway traffic.

X-Terra vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Fortuner, the X-Terra leads in cabin refinement and technology, offering a more car-like interior experience without sacrificing its body-on-frame durability. It provides superior second-row tumble functionality for easier access to the third row, a key advantage for large families. Its 78-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops on long cross-border drives compared to smaller-capacity rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.5L 4-cylinder engine is remarkably fuel-efficient for a 4WD SUV, averaging approximately 8.8 to 11.4 L/100km depending on GCC traffic conditions. Nissan maintains one of the most comprehensive service networks across the UAE, KSA, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. Historically, the X-Terra retains its value exceptionally well in the GCC, typically seeing lower annual depreciation than its European luxury counterparts.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a dedicated Four-Wheel Drive system and 243 mm of ground clearance, the X-Terra is built for weekend desert excursions and soft sand driving. The 7-speed automatic transmission is geared for smooth highway cruising, providing adequate power for overtaking at speed. Its body-on-frame construction ensures the chassis can handle the vibrations of gravel roads and rugged terrain common in the northern Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is optimized for the intense GCC climate, featuring a high-output dual-zone AC system with dedicated vents for both the second and third rows. The Platinum trim's Zero Gravity seats are designed to reduce fatigue during long road trips to Salalah or Liwa. Modern tech highlights include a premium Bose audio system and wireless smartphone charging, keeping the cabin cable-free and connected.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the Platinum trim, which features six airbags and a suite of active technologies including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Emergency Braking. The 360-degree camera system is particularly useful for maneuvering this large SUV in tight Dubai parking structures. Standard Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control provide extra security when navigating steep mountain passes in Jebel Jais.

The bottom line

This Platinum edition is the ideal match for a family that needs a reliable, tech-loaded 4x4 capable of handling both the daily school run and desert adventures with total peace of mind.
