Summary

This 2023 Porsche 718 Spyder represents a rare opportunity to own a pure, naturally aspirated driver's machine with exceptionally low mileage for its three years of age. Finished in striking green, a color that holds a specialized but strong enthusiast following in the UAE, this manual-transmission roadster stands apart from the common PDK variants. As one of the final expressions of the internal combustion mid-engine platform, it offers a visceral engagement that rivals like the Lotus Emira or BMW Z4 M40i struggle to match. For the GCC buyer, this specific listing provides a near-new mechanical state that is perfectly suited for the region's scenic highway drives and weekend escapes.

This Car vs Other 2023 718 Spyders

With just 6,187 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered significantly less ground than the typical 20,000 km per year average seen in the UAE market. This low utilization ensures the high-revving 4.0-litre engine and manual gearbox remain in peak condition. The green exterior is a standout choice that differentiates it from the usual white and silver palette, often commanding a premium among collectors in the region.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The Spyder is the pinnacle of the open-top 718 range, featuring the complete high-performance GT chassis from the Cayman GT4 as standard. Unlike the base Boxster or GTS, the Spyder includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a 30 mm lower ride height and a mechanical limited-slip differential. It also features a specific lightweight manual soft top and a functional rear diffuser that generates actual downforce, a first for the Boxster family.

718 Spyder vs Segment Rivals

The 718 Spyder leads its segment by offering a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, whereas rivals like the Jaguar F-Type or BMW Z4 have largely moved to turbocharged units. Its mid-engine layout provides superior balance for high-speed cornering on UAE highways compared to front-engine competitors. Additionally, the manual transmission offers a level of driver involvement that is increasingly rare in the modern sports car market.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0-litre engine averages around 10.9 L/100km on combined cycles, though city driving in heavy traffic will see this increase. As a Japanese-spec import, it is well-regarded for its clean maintenance history, though buyers should note that authorized Porsche centers in the UAE primarily support local GCC-spec vehicles for warranty claims. Value retention remains exceptionally high for the Spyder, as it is a discontinued powertrain and a highly sought-after enthusiast model.

Performance & Capability

The 414 hp flat-six engine delivers a linear power delivery that screams to an 8,000 rpm redline, providing an emotive soundtrack for tunnel drives. The 6-speed manual transmission features an 'Auto Blip' function for perfect downshifts, making it approachable even for those new to performance manuals. With a top speed of 301 km/h and track-bred GT3-derived brakes, this car offers immense capability for both spirited coastal drives and track sessions.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cockpit is focused and minimalist, featuring a GT sports steering wheel and standard Alcantara upholstery for maximum grip during spirited driving. Despite its performance focus, the cabin includes Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with Sound Package Plus for long-distance comfort. The manually operated lightweight top is designed to save weight while providing effective insulation from the intense GCC summer heat when closed.

Safety

Safety is managed by Porsche Stability Management (PSM) with two-stage intervention, providing a safety net for fast-moving highway traffic while allowing driver freedom. The vehicle is equipped with high-performance six-piston monobloc brakes for exceptional stopping power, and the reinforced body structure ensures occupant protection despite the open-top design. Side-impact protection and advanced airbag systems are standard for this trim.

The bottom line

This 2023 718 Spyder is the ideal acquisition for the enthusiast who demands a high-revving manual gearbox and a nearly-new mechanical state in a market moving toward electrification.
