Summary

This 2023 Suzuki Jimny GLX 5-door represents a unique opportunity to own a highly practical version of the world’s most iconic compact 4x4. Finished in a high-demand Jungle Green that traditionally commands strong resale interest in the UAE, this automatic GLX trim offers the perfect balance of rugged utility and modern tech. The extended 5-door wheelbase significantly improves daily usability for families without sacrificing the legendary off-road geometry that makes the Jimny a desert favorite. As a GCC-spec model, it is fully optimized for the region’s extreme heat and has access to a wide-reaching service network across the Emirates and beyond. For a buyer seeking a reliable, character-filled SUV that holds its value exceptionally well, this is a standout choice.

This Car vs Other 2023 Jimnys

While many Jimnys on the market are the traditional 3-door variant, this 5-door model offers a significant advantage in rear legroom and boot space, making it a much more viable daily driver for the GCC market. Its mileage is considered low for a 2023 model in this region, where high highway travel is the norm. The Jungle Green exterior is one of the most sought-after colors for the Jimny, often fetching a premium over standard white or silver units.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim is the premium specification in the GCC, adding critical comfort and safety features that the base GL lacks. You get a larger 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED projector headlamps for better nighttime visibility on unlit desert roads, and climate control to handle the summer heat. Most importantly, the GLX adds side and curtain airbags, bringing the total to six for significantly improved occupant safety.

Jimny vs Segment Rivals

In a segment filled with road-biased crossovers like the Kia Sonet or Chevrolet Groove, the Jimny stands alone as a genuine body-on-frame 4x4. It leads the class in off-road capability thanks to its selectable low-range transfer case and rigid axle suspension. While rivals offer more tech-heavy interiors, the Jimny provides unmatched durability and the ability to traverse terrain where other compact SUVs would struggle.

Running Costs & Resale

The Jimny is famous in the GCC for its incredible value retention, often depreciating at just 8–10% annually compared to the 15% seen in luxury rivals. Fuel economy is efficient for a 4x4, averaging roughly 7.1L/100km combined, which is excellent for city commuting in Dubai or Riyadh. Suzuki's authorized service network is one of the most extensive in the region, ensuring parts are affordable and maintenance is straightforward across all GCC countries.

Performance & Capability

The Jimny’s 1.5-litre engine is engineered for low-end torque and reliability rather than outright speed, making it perfectly suited for technical off-roading. It features the ALLGRIP PRO system, allowing the driver to shift into 4L for maximum traction in deep sand or steep dunes. With a 210 mm ground clearance and short overhangs, it offers approach and departure angles that rival much larger and more expensive off-roaders.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-door layout provides a genuinely usable second row and a 211-litre boot that expands to 332 litres with the seats folded. The cabin is designed for durability with high-quality plastics and a powerful air conditioning system that is specifically tuned for GCC summer temperatures. The GLX adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and cruise control, making long highway drives between emirates much more comfortable.

Safety

This GLX trim is equipped with six airbags, providing comprehensive protection for all four passengers. It features electronic stability control, hill hold and descent control for off-road safety, and a 360-degree camera system that makes parking in tight urban spaces a breeze. The inclusion of ISOFIX child seat anchors and high-strength body construction makes it a safe choice for small families.

The bottom line

This is the ideal vehicle for the GCC enthusiast who needs a daily driver that can transition seamlessly into a weekend desert explorer. With its desirable GLX spec and iconic green finish, it offers some of the best resale protection available in the current used car market.
