Toyota Granvia PLATINUM Right Hand Drive

Highlights

• Four seats with second-row VIP captain chairs
• 8.0 L/100km combined diesel fuel efficiency
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2023 Toyota Granvia Platinum is a rare diesel-powered luxury van that offers a lounge-like experience with its exclusive four-seat VIP configuration. With just 20,330 km, the mileage is exceptionally low for a regional workhorse, making it a compelling alternative to higher-mileage executive sedans. The Silver exterior is a premier resale color in the GCC, ensuring it holds its value better than more niche shades. While most Granvias in the region use the thirsty V6 petrol, this 2.8L diesel variant provides significantly better range for long highway drives between emirates. For a buyer seeking the ultimate private shuttle with Toyota's legendary reliability, this Platinum trim stands as a high-specification opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2023 Granvias

With only 20,330 km, this Granvia has covered less than half the distance of a typical 2023 model in the GCC, where 25,000 km per year is the standard average. The Silver finish is among the top three most desirable colors for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets, providing a faster exit path than darker tones. While many 2023 listings are 6-seaters, this specific 4-seat layout is the most prestigious and hardest to find.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim elevates the Granvia from a premium shuttle to a private jet for the road, replacing the standard bench or basic captain chairs with two massive, power-adjustable VIP thrones in the rear. These seats include power ottomans, heating, and cooling—features often omitted in base models. You also get the upgraded wood-grain trim, ambient lighting, and the 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor which is essential for maneuvering this long-wheelbase van in tight GCC parking lots.

Granvia vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the car-based Kia Carnival or the Hyundai Staria, the Granvia's rear-wheel-drive platform and high roofline provide significantly more vertical headroom and a commanding view of the road. While the Mercedes-Benz V-Class offers similar luxury, the Granvia leads in terms of air conditioning performance and ease of maintenance, with a parts network that spans every corner of the GCC. It is the only choice for buyers who prioritize long-term durability and the widest possible service support.

Running Costs & Resale

This 2.8L diesel engine is a master of efficiency, achieving a combined 8.0 L/100km, which offers nearly double the range of the petrol V6 models commonly found in the UAE. Servicing is straightforward and affordable, with authorized centers like Al-Futtaim and Abdul Latif Jameel providing extensive coverage across the region. Toyota remains the gold standard for value retention in the GCC; while vans typically depreciate slightly faster than SUVs, the low mileage and Platinum spec help this car resist the 15-20% annual drop seen in European luxury rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 2.8L turbo-diesel produces 174 hp and a robust 450 Nm of torque, which is perfectly tuned for carrying a full load of passengers and luggage at highway speeds without strain. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration ensures a tight 11-meter turning circle, making it surprisingly agile for a vehicle over 5 meters long. While not built for speed, the diesel's torque makes highway overtaking effortless and maintains consistent cooling even during the peak 45°C summer heat.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a true 4-seat sanctuary, featuring two quilted leather captain's chairs that offer near-flat reclining and individual reading lamps. Dual power-sliding doors allow for graceful entry and exit, while the independent rear climate control system is engineered specifically for the extreme GCC climate to ensure rear passengers stay cool instantly. Deep acoustic glass insulation keeps the diesel engine's hum outside, providing a whisper-quiet environment for business meetings or family travel.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on the Platinum trim, featuring Toyota Safety Sense with a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control—vital for long desert highway commutes. The 360-degree camera system and Blind Spot Monitoring are standard, providing critical assistance on the UAE's multi-lane highways. With a 5-star ANCAP rating and nine airbags, it offers class-leading protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC executive or family seeking first-class travel with the peace of mind that only a Toyota service badge provides. With its low mileage and efficient diesel powertrain, it represents a smart, high-value acquisition in the premium MPV market.
