• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR offers the ideal balance of the legendary LC300 capability and daily luxury that GCC buyers prioritize. The white exterior is a top-tier choice for the region, ensuring the highest possible resale speed and heat reflection during peak summer months. Powered by the refined 3.5L twin-turbo V6, it delivers a massive 400 hp—a significant jump in performance and highway overtaking confidence compared to the older V8 models. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it comes standard with the heavy-duty cooling systems and reinforced suspension required for reliable desert expeditions and cross-border drives. For a serious buyer in the Emirates, this trim represents the sweet spot of off-road hardware and premium cabin features without the excessive cost of the VXR.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

With most 2023 Land Cruisers in the GCC covering 20,000 to 25,000 km annually, this model stands as a modern, reliable investment for those who want a near-new experience. The white paint is the most liquid asset in the UAE used market, consistently holding value better than darker shades. Being a GCC-spec 300 series, it enjoys full regional support and a cooling package specifically designed for 50-degree summers.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is the essential step up for GCC families, adding a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display and premium 20-inch alloy wheels that the base EXR lacks. Inside, you benefit from upgraded seat materials and a wireless smartphone charger, which are critical for long drives across the Emirates. It retains the vital locking center differential and Multi-Terrain Select system, making it just as capable off-road as the more expensive trims.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads with its massive 110-liter fuel capacity, providing superior range for long-distance highway cruises between Dubai and Riyadh. While the Patrol focuses on a softer ride, the Land Cruiser’s body-on-frame construction and 3,500 kg towing capacity make it the preferred choice for heavy-duty desert use and hauling. Its authorized service network is the most extensive in the region, ensuring parts are available in even the remotest parts of the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the twin-turbo petrol engine averages around 12.1 L/100km, a marked improvement over the previous generation in GCC stop-start traffic. Maintenance is straightforward with 10,000 km service intervals, supported by Al Futtaim in the UAE and major distributors across Saudi Arabia and Oman. The Land Cruiser maintains one of the lowest depreciation rates in the region, often retaining over 80% of its value after three years of ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp twin-turbo V6 enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 6.8 seconds, making it surprisingly agile for a full-size SUV. Its 10-speed automatic transmission is tuned for the high-speed highway limits found in the UAE while providing precise control in low-range desert settings. With 650 Nm of torque available from low RPMs, it handles steep dunes and heavy trailers with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

This seven-seater features a highly effective tri-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents, essential for maintaining passenger comfort in extreme heat. The cabin is well-insulated from road and wind noise, even at cruising speeds on the E11. Technology highlights include the 12.3-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and a high-fidelity audio system that serves as a mobile sanctuary for family road trips.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a comprehensive suite of airbags and stability control systems optimized for both sand and tarmac. The GXR features front and rear parking sensors and a high-resolution rear-view camera to help navigate tight urban parking. For highway safety, it includes cruise control and advanced brake assist, providing peace of mind during fast-moving multi-lane traffic.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec GXR is the definitive choice for the UAE buyer who needs a bulletproof desert-ready SUV that maintains its value like no other vehicle in the market.
