Summary

This 2023 Toyota RAV4 XLE is an exceptional find for the GCC market, offering a mileage of just over 28,000 km—well below the regional annual average. The black exterior is a highly sought-after choice for resale in the Emirates, ensuring strong value retention for future owners. As an XLE trim, it bridges the gap between basic utility and modern tech, featuring dual-zone climate control and a power moonroof that elevate the daily commute. Built to handle long desert highways and stop-start city traffic with ease, this SUV remains the gold standard for reliability in the region. For a buyer seeking a near-new vehicle with proven durability and low running costs, this Canadian-spec RAV4 is a top-tier contender.

This Car vs Other 2023 Toyota RAV4s

With just 28,170 km on the odometer, this RAV4 has covered significantly less ground than the typical 40,000–50,000 km expected for a two-year-old vehicle in the GCC. The deep black finish is a major asset in the local used market, consistently holding a price premium over less conventional colors. While this is a Canadian-spec model, its mechanical components are identical to the versions sold locally, ensuring easy maintenance at any specialized workshop across the UAE.

XLE vs Lower Trims

The XLE trim provides a substantial equipment boost over the base LE, most notably adding the Smart Key System with Push Button Start and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. For the GCC climate, the addition of dual-zone automatic climate control is a vital upgrade, allowing driver and passenger to set independent cooling levels. It also features rain-sensing wipers and a power rear liftgate, which are rare but highly convenient features at this price point.

RAV4 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Honda CR-V or Nissan X-Trail, the RAV4 leads with a 55-litre fuel tank that enables a highway range exceeding 750 km—ideal for cross-border trips or long drives between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Its 2.5L naturally aspirated engine avoids the complexity of smaller turbocharged units found in rivals, offering more predictable performance in extreme heat. The cargo capacity of 1,059 litres with seats upright also places it among the most practical options for family weekend road trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are among the lowest in the SUV segment, with official fuel consumption rated at approximately 9.4 L/100km in city traffic and 7.1 L/100km on the highway. Toyota’s authorized service network is the most extensive in the GCC, with parts available in almost every major city from Riyadh to Muscat. This model is famous for its slow depreciation, typically losing only 8–10% of its value annually, making it one of the safest financial investments in the used car market.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5-litre Dynamic Force engine delivers a reliable 203 horsepower, providing smooth acceleration for highway overtaking. Unlike many compact crossovers, it maintains a respectable ground clearance of approximately 213 mm, allowing it to handle gravel tracks and light desert terrain during weekend camping trips. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for efficiency, shifting seamlessly to maintain cabin refinement at high cruising speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring an 8-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support and high-quality cloth upholstery that stays cool during peak summer hours. A power moonroof adds an airy feel to the interior, while the upgraded 8-inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless navigation. The rear passenger area includes dedicated cooling vents and a flat floor, ensuring three adults can sit comfortably on extended journeys.

Safety

Standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 provides a comprehensive safety net, featuring Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which is indispensable for Abu Dhabi highway driving. It also includes Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert to assist in heavy city traffic. A total of eight airbags and a reinforced chassis contribute to its top-tier safety ratings, offering peace of mind for family buyers.

The bottom line

Perfect for the pragmatic GCC buyer who wants a low-mileage, reliable family SUV that will retain its value for years to come.
