Summary

This 2023 Volkswagen Amarok Style represents the new generation of premium pickups, offering a significant leap in refinement and technology for the GCC market. With just 21,850 km, it has been driven slightly less than the regional average, making it a fresh choice for those who want a versatile vehicle that feels like a luxury SUV inside. The Grey exterior is a highly desirable, stable resale color in the UAE and wider GCC, providing a modern look that resists the harsh sun better than darker shades. As a Style trim, it balances rugged utility with high-end features like Matrix LED lighting and a massive digital interface, setting it apart from more basic workhorses. This model is ideal for buyers who need a reliable desert-capable truck but refuse to compromise on cabin comfort or safety during long highway commutes.

This Car vs Other 2023 Amaroks

At 21,850 km, this Amarok sits below the typical 25,000 km annual average for GCC drivers, indicating careful use. The Grey paintwork is a strategic choice for the region, offering better heat management and higher resale demand than niche colors. Being a second-generation model, it benefits from the latest platform shared with the Ford Ranger, ensuring better parts availability and modernized driving dynamics compared to older stock.

STYLE vs Lower Trims

The Style trim is a major step up from the Life and Base variants, introducing the high-tech 12-inch digital cockpit and the 12-inch vertical infotainment screen. It also adds premium safety and aesthetic features like IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights and a 360-degree camera system which are not standard on lower trims. Inside, you get upgraded upholstery and ambient lighting, transforming the cabin from a utility space into a premium environment.

Amarok vs Segment Rivals

The Amarok leads rivals like the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max in interior technology and highway refinement, offering a smoother ride more akin to a passenger SUV. While the Hilux is known for pure utility, the Amarok provides a vastly superior infotainment experience and more advanced ADAS safety systems. Its 3,500 kg towing capacity matches the best in class, ensuring it remains as capable as any dedicated workhorse in the segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine offers a balance of power and efficiency, typically returning around 9.9 L/100km on a combined cycle in GCC conditions. Service intervals are generally every 15,000 km or 12 months, supported by a strong authorized network including Al Nabooda and Ali & Sons in the UAE. While European pickups often face higher initial depreciation, the new-gen Amarok's shared platform and high demand for the Style trim help it maintain a competitive value retention rate compared to its predecessor.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity, this Amarok is ready for heavy-duty hauling of boats or trailers across the Emirates. The 4-cylinder turbocharged engine is paired with a sophisticated 10-speed automatic transmission, providing smooth power delivery for highway overtaking and desert sand tracks. Selectable drive modes, including specific settings for slippery and sandy surfaces, allow you to tailor the traction to local off-road conditions with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a class-leading 12-inch vertical touchscreen that integrates seamlessly with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Dual-zone climate control ensures the interior remains cool during the peak GCC summer, while the insulated windscreen helps reduce cabin noise and heat soak. With seating for five and a significantly lengthened wheelbase, the second row offers genuine legroom for adult passengers, making it suitable for family road trips.

Safety

This Amarok Style comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including eight airbags and a 5-star safety rating. Drivers benefit from advanced aids like a 360-degree camera for easy parking in tight city spots, Adaptive Cruise Control for long desert hauls, and Lane Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking provide essential protection on busy multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who wants a rugged pickup that drives like a luxury SUV, this low-mileage Style trim Amarok is a standout choice that offers the best of German engineering and modern technology.
