BMW M4 COMPETITION CONVERTIBLE

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 3.7 seconds
• 650 Nm of torque
• 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system standard

Summary

This 2024 Competition model represents the peak of modern M-division engineering, offering a visceral driving experience that few rivals can match in the UAE's high-performance segment. With mileage under 28,000 km, this vehicle has been driven slightly above the GCC annual average but remains mechanically fresh for a high-output sports car. The classic black-on-black aesthetic ensures strong resale demand across the region, where neutral tones maintain the highest value retention. As a Competition trim, it bridges the gap between a daily executive cruiser and a track-capable machine, featuring the robust cooling systems necessary for Middle Eastern summers. This is a choice opportunity for a buyer seeking the ultimate open-top grand tourer that can handle both city traffic and the fast-paced highways of the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2024 M4s

With approximately 27,601 km on the odometer, this car is positioned slightly above the typical GCC annual average of 20,000 km, reflecting its status as a capable daily driver rather than a garage queen. In the local used market, this usage is common for cars that commute between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The black exterior is a primary resale color in the UAE, ensuring it will move faster and hold value better than bolder, niche colors.

COMPETITION vs Lower Trims

The Competition trim is a significant leap over the base M4, swapping the manual gearbox for a faster-shifting 8-speed M Steptronic transmission designed for high-torque loads. It adds a boost in output to 503 hp and increases torque by 100 Nm, which is immediately noticeable during highway overtaking. GCC-essential features like the extended Shadowline trim and larger 19/20-inch staggered M light-alloy wheels come standard, providing the aggressive stance local buyers prioritize.

M4 vs Segment Rivals

The M4 Competition stands apart from the Mercedes-AMG C63 and Audi RS5 by offering a more driver-centric chassis and the distinctive straight-six engine character that BMW enthusiasts demand. Its cooling system is widely regarded as one of the best for high-ambient temperatures, a critical advantage during the peak UAE summer months. Furthermore, the M4 provides a more intuitive digital cockpit through the latest iDrive system compared to the older interfaces in some regional competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 10.2 L/100km on the highway, though GCC stop-start traffic will see this rise significantly. Service intervals in the region should ideally be performed every 8,000 to 10,000 km to protect the twin-turbo system from heat and desert dust. BMW maintains a vast authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, supporting long-term ownership. While convertibles traditionally depreciate slightly faster than coupes, the 2024 Competition remains a high-demand model with a projected value retention of roughly 68% over the first three years.

Performance & Capability

Achieving 0–100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, this convertible offers supercar-level acceleration that is perfectly suited for the UAE's high-speed road network. The 650 Nm of torque provides effortless power delivery at almost any speed, managed by M-specific drive modes that can soften the suspension for the city or stiffen it for the Dubai Autodrome. Despite being a convertible, the chassis remains remarkably rigid, ensuring precision handling through the sweeping bends of Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a four-seat layout featuring M Sport seats that provide exceptional lateral support during spirited drives while remaining comfortable for long-distance cruising. The powerful multi-zone climate control is designed to combat extreme heat, paired with the premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system that remains clear even with the top down at speed. High-quality materials and the BMW Curved Display create a sophisticated environment that serves as a quiet executive cabin when the roof is closed.

Safety

This Competition trim comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Frontal Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Warning, which are invaluable for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic. The M-specific Head-Up Display allows the driver to keep their eyes on the road by projecting speed and navigation directly into the line of sight. Advanced stability and traction control systems are tuned to handle both high-grip asphalt and the occasional sandy patches found on regional highways.

The bottom line

For the GCC enthusiast who wants the performance of a supercar with the everyday usability of a luxury BMW, this 2024 M4 Competition is a perfectly balanced choice in a high-resale specification.
