Summary

This 2024 model represents a significant update for the nameplate, introducing the S68 engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system for sharper response. With only 12,800 km on the odometer, this vehicle is exceptionally low mileage for a two-year-old car in the GCC, where 20,000 km per year is the norm. The Grey exterior is a highly desirable, high-resale color in the local market, perfectly complementing the aggressive M-specific bodywork. As a GCC-spec example, it comes with the peace of mind of local warranty compatibility and a cooling system built to handle extreme summer heat. It strikes the perfect balance for the UAE buyer who needs a practical family hauler that can outperform most sports cars on the E11.

This Car vs Other 2024 X5s

At just 12,800 km, this vehicle’s usage is less than half of what is typically expected for a two-year-old car in the GCC. While many performance SUVs in the region are used for long-distance commutes between emirates, this example has been driven sparingly, preserving its mechanical longevity and interior condition. The Grey finish is a strategic choice for the region, offering better heat reflection than black while maintaining a premium, high-demand status for future resale.

M COMPETITION vs Lower Trims

The Competition trim is a massive leap over the X5 M60i, replacing the standard V8 with a full M-Division power unit and a reinforced 8-speed M Steptronic transmission. It gains M-specific adaptive suspension, an active M Differential, and staggered 21/22-inch wheels that provide superior high-speed stability. Inside, you are upgraded to standard Merino leather, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system, and the M-specific Curved Display that includes specialized track-telemetry modes.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT or the Audi RS Q8, this car offers a more intuitive tech interface via BMW's latest iDrive system and significantly more standard cargo space behind the second row. Its 4.4L V8 is renowned for a broader torque curve, making it more responsive in stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. While rivals often charge extra for advanced driver aids, this trim includes a comprehensive ADAS suite as standard.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this mild-hybrid V8 typically hovers around 12.5 to 13.1 L/100km, which is efficient for 600+ horsepower but benefits from 98-octane fuel available across the UAE and KSA. Service intervals are managed by BMW’s Condition Based Service (CBS) system, usually prompting an oil change every 10,000 to 12,000 km. Authorized service centers are exceptionally well-distributed across all major GCC cities, ensuring high parts availability. Historically, the GCC used market sees this model retain roughly 65-70% of its value after three years, outperforming many European competitors.

Performance & Capability

The headline is the 3.9-second sprint to 100 km/h, but the real advantage in the GCC is the mid-range overtaking power provided by 750 Nm of torque. The M xDrive system is rear-biased for a sporty feel but can instantly shift power to all four wheels, providing immense confidence during sudden sand-drifts on highway shoulders or heavy rain. Multiple M-drive modes allow you to transform the car from a comfortable cruiser for the family to a rigid, track-ready machine at the touch of a steering-wheel button.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for five adults, the cabin features M Multifunction seats with ventilation, which is essential for maintaining comfort during 45°C+ summer days. The four-zone automatic climate control ensures that rear passengers have dedicated cooling vents, while the panoramic sunroof features a high-quality tint to block UV heat. Long-distance trips across the border are made effortless by the acoustic glazing, which significantly reduces wind noise at highway speeds.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Active Blind Spot Detection and Frontal Collision Warning, both critical for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways. The 360° surround-view camera system with 3D view makes parking this large SUV in tight city malls simple. It also features Lane Departure Warning and a specialized Driver Attention Assistant to ensure safety during long desert drives where fatigue can set in.

The bottom line

For the GCC enthusiast, this is an opportunity to own the current-generation flagship M-SUV with exceptionally low mileage in the region's best resale color. It offers supercar performance with the daily reliability and service support that only a GCC-spec BMW provides.
