Summary

This 2024 Mazda CX-5 GL represents a compelling opportunity for buyers seeking a near-new crossover with mileage that is exceptionally low for the UAE, where typical two-year-old vehicles often exceed 50,000 km. The White exterior is widely considered the strongest resale color in the GCC market, offering maximum heat reflection and value retention. As a 2.5L AWD model, it balances the necessary power for highway merging with the efficiency needed for daily commutes between emirates. Ownership of a Mazda in this region is supported by an extensive authorized service network and a reputation for reliability that rivals the segment's best. For the urban professional or small family, this listing offers the ideal mix of Japanese engineering and local market suitability.

This Car vs Other 2024 CX-5s

With 49,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits slightly below the GCC annual average of 25,000 km, making it a mechanically fresh choice for a two-year-old SUV. The White exterior paint is the most sought-after color in the local used market due to its superior performance in extreme summer heat and historically higher resale premiums. Choosing a GCC-spec model over international imports ensures full compatibility with local fuel grades and climate-specific cooling requirements.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim serves as a well-appointed entry point that avoids the complexity of higher-tier turbocharged units while retaining essential GCC comforts like rear air conditioning vents and dual-zone climate control. Unlike base configurations in other markets, this GCC GL trim includes the larger 10.25-inch center display and Mazda's i-Activ AWD system as standard. It provides the premium interior feel Mazda is known for without the steep depreciation curve associated with top-tier luxury packages.

CX-5 vs Segment Rivals

The CX-5 is frequently cross-shopped with the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, where it distinguishes itself through superior cabin materials and a more engaging, driver-centric steering feel. While the RAV4 focuses on utility, the Mazda offers a more sophisticated aesthetic and a traditional 6-speed automatic transmission that many GCC drivers prefer over the CVTs found in rivals. Its standard all-wheel-drive system provides added stability during the region's occasional heavy rain and sand-slicked highway conditions.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L AWD powertrain typically averages around 7.5 to 8.5 L/100km on UAE highways, though this may increase in heavy Dubai or Riyadh stop-start traffic. Mazda enjoys a robust authorized service presence across all major GCC cities including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Muscat, ensuring parts availability is never a concern. The CX-5 holds its value remarkably well, typically seeing a depreciation rate of approximately 10-12% annually, which is significantly better than European competitors in the same segment.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine produces a reliable 188 hp, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 8.9 seconds, providing sufficient punch for confident overtaking on the E11. The i-Activ AWD system proactively monitors road conditions to distribute torque, which is particularly useful for weekend trips to gravel-heavy wadis or maintaining traction on sandy road shoulders. While designed for the road, its ground clearance allows for light off-pavement excursions during the UAE camping season.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed with a premium focus, featuring high-quality soft-touch materials and excellent sound insulation that keeps the interior quiet even at highway speeds. A powerful dual-zone air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents ensures all passengers remain comfortable during the peak summer months. The 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats allow for flexible cargo configurations, easily accommodating large grocery hauls or weekend sports gear.

Safety

This CX-5 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Advanced Smart City Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic. The inclusion of Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Radar Cruise Control significantly reduces driver fatigue during long cross-border drives or commutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Multiple airbags and a rigid chassis design contribute to its consistent top-tier safety ratings across global testing bodies.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Mazda CX-5 is the perfect match for a buyer who wants a stylish, low-mileage SUV that will hold its value and handle the desert heat with ease.
