Summary

This 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S is a formidable performance SUV, offering a blend of raw V8 power and daily practicality that is highly sought after in the GCC. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the region, known for its heat-deflection properties and exceptional resale value in the UAE and Saudi markets. With only 33,000 km, this European-spec example is well below the typical 50,000+ km usage expected for a luxury SUV of this age in the region. As the 'S' trim, it represents the absolute peak of the GLE range, standing out against smaller-displacement rivals with its hand-assembled AMG engine. For a GCC buyer, this provides a rare opportunity to own a nearly-new flagship SUV that is as capable of cross-emirate highway cruises as it is of commanding presence in city traffic.

This Car vs Other 2024 GLE 63 AMGs

With 33,000 km on the clock, this GLE 63 S has seen light use compared to the higher annual averages typical for high-performance SUVs in the UAE. The silver finish is one of the most resilient colors for the GCC climate, effectively hiding dust and maintaining a 'showroom' look longer than darker alternatives. While a European spec, it shares the core mechanical excellence of its GCC counterparts, though buyers should verify the local service history for warranty continuity.

S vs Lower Trims

The 'S' trim is the definitive upgrade over the GLE 53, replacing the inline-six with a handcrafted V8 and increasing output by nearly 180 horsepower. Beyond the engine, the S adds essential GCC luxury features as standard, including ventilated and massaging Nappa leather front seats and a specialized AMG head-up display. It also features an upgraded AMG Performance 4MATIC+ system with a dedicated Drift Mode and active engine mounts not found on lower models.

GLE 63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

In the fast-paced GCC market, the GLE 63 S leads its primary rivals—the BMW X5 M and Audi RSQ8—in pure utility with a generous 3,500 kg towing capacity. Its MBUX infotainment system is widely considered the most intuitive for navigating complex Gulf city layouts, while the air suspension offers superior refinement on long desert highways. The handcrafted V8 provides a more visceral, traditional performance feel than the highly digitized experience of its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 12.5 L/100km on the combined cycle, though this can rise significantly in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. As a flagship AMG model, it requires Super 98 fuel to maintain its performance metrics. Authorized service centers are widely available across major GCC cities, with standard service intervals every 15,000 km. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the S trim's status as a top-tier V8 helps it retain value better than the mid-range GLE variants.

Performance & Capability

The handcrafted 4.0L V8 produces a verified 603 hp (documented as 612 PS) and a massive 850 Nm of torque, enabling effortless highway overtaking at high speeds. The 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system is rear-biased for agility but provides rock-solid stability during the heavy rain or sandstorms occasionally encountered in the region. The standard adaptive air suspension can be raised for better clearance, making it suitable for reaching remote beach spots or desert glamping sites.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat cabin is designed for ultimate temperature control, featuring a powerful multi-zone climate system and standard ventilated front seats to combat 45°C+ summer peaks. Acoustic glass and high-grade insulation keep the interior whisper-quiet during high-speed highway runs between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The cargo area offers a substantial 630 liters of space with all seats in place, easily accommodating a family's weekend luggage or golf sets.

Safety

This GLE 63 S comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite including active blind-spot assist and Distronic adaptive cruise control, both of which are invaluable on the UAE's busy multi-lane highways. The 360-degree camera system makes parking in tight mall spaces effortless, while the Pre-Safe Impulse Side system provides an extra layer of protection by moving the driver or passenger away from a side impact. It maintains a 5-star safety pedigree, ensuring top-tier protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for an enthusiast seeking the peak of Mercedes performance in a practical SUV body that is perfectly suited to the GCC's high-speed lifestyle and harsh climate.
