Summary

This 2019 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG represents the first year of the revolutionary second-generation redesign, offering a far more civilized road experience without losing its iconic silhouette. With a powerful 585 hp V8 and the desirable black-on-black color scheme, this GCC-spec example sits in a sweet spot for resale strength in the regional market. It effortlessly outpaces rivals like the Range Rover SVR while maintaining the world-class off-road hardware that defined the G-Wagen's heritage. For the GCC buyer, this is the ultimate statement SUV that handles the humidity of coastal commutes and the heat of desert highway runs with equal composure.

This Car vs Other 2019 G63 AMGs

With 85,000 km on the odometer, this G63 has been driven roughly 17,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the typical 25,000 km annual average seen on luxury SUVs in the GCC. Its black exterior is one of the most liquid colors for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets, often commanding a premium over less traditional shades. Being a GCC-spec model, it features the uprated cooling systems essential for maintaining peak performance during the extreme summer months.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the AMG performance flagship, the G63 adds substantial hardware over the standard G500, including the handcrafted M177 biturbo engine and the AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed transmission. This trim includes the side-exit exhaust system and the high-performance braking system with larger rotors that GCC drivers rely on for high-speed highway safety. Inside, it features the dual 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit and Nappa leather as standard, providing the premium tech environment expected in this segment.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 stands alone by offering a traditional ladder-frame chassis and three independent locking differentials, features that the more road-biased Range Rover SVR or Lamborghini Urus cannot match. Its 100-liter fuel tank provides superior range for long-distance travel between emirates compared to the smaller tanks found in more aerodynamic competitors. The upright cabin design also offers significantly more headroom and better visibility for navigating tight urban traffic in Riyadh or Dubai.

Running Costs & Resale

The G63 AMG typically retains approximately 80-85% of its value over three years in the GCC, outperforming almost every other European luxury SUV in the market. Fuel consumption averages roughly 13.2 L/100km, though this will rise in stop-start city traffic where the cylinder deactivation system helps manage efficiency. Maintenance is required every 15,000 km at authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers, which are extensively available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L biturbo V8 produces a massive 850 Nm of torque, allowing this heavy SUV to reach a top speed of 220 km/h with deceptive ease. Its off-road capability is anchored by a low-range transfer case with a 2.93 reduction ratio, making it exceptionally capable for weekend desert excursions. The AMG Ride Control suspension allows the driver to stiffen the chassis for flat cornering on tarmac or soften it for superior comfort on unpaved surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in modern luxury, featuring ventilated front seats and a multi-zone climate control system that is specifically engineered to combat 50°C summer peaks. Rear passengers enjoy dedicated air vents and ample legroom, making it a viable family vehicle for long road trips. The Burmester surround sound system and 64-color ambient lighting allow for a highly customizable interior atmosphere during evening drives.

Safety

This G63 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Blind Spot Assist, and Active Lane Keeping Assist to handle fast-moving GCC highway traffic. The 360-degree camera system is essential for maneuvering the vehicle's boxy dimensions in tight parking areas. Standard high-performance LED Multibeam headlights provide exceptional visibility for night driving on unlit desert roads.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity to own a well-maintained, GCC-spec G63 in the most desirable color combination, offering the perfect balance of iconic status and modern daily-driver comfort.
