Summary

This 2-year-old Nissan X Terra Platinum represents a highly balanced choice for GCC families, offering the top-tier luxury trim with a mileage profile that aligns perfectly with the region's highway-centric driving habits. As the Platinum edition, it elevates the ownership experience with premium leather appointments and advanced tech usually reserved for more expensive segments, while the black exterior remains a prestigious and high-demand choice in the local market. The model stands out by bridging the gap between a rugged, body-on-frame 4x4 and a refined city commuter, outclassing road-biased crossovers in durability. For a buyer in the Emirates, the combination of reliable four-wheel drive and a robust parts network makes this a low-risk, high-utility investment.

This Car vs Other 2024 X Terras

With 68,630 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits comfortably within the expected usage range for a two-year-old SUV in the GCC, where annual averages frequently reach 35,000 km due to inter-emirate travel. The black paintwork is a significant asset for resale, maintaining a professional aesthetic that is always in demand across the secondary market. Buyers will find this specific unit offers a mechanical freshness that makes it a prime candidate for long-term family use.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim is a significant step up from the Titanium, replacing the standard 8-inch unit with a superior 9-inch touchscreen featuring integrated navigation and a premium 8-speaker Bose audio system. It exclusively offers quilted leather-appointed seating with power adjustment, alongside the full Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite including a 360-degree Around View Monitor. These high-spec features are specifically valued by GCC buyers for both summer comfort and maintaining a premium feel during long desert highway hauls.

X Terra vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport, the X Terra leads with a more modern interior layout and a 7-speed automatic transmission that offers smoother shifts than many rivals' 6-speed units. Its generous 78-litre fuel tank provides superior range for long-distance cruising between cities like Dubai and Muscat. Furthermore, the X Terra offers a quieter cabin environment at highway speeds thanks to standard acoustic glass, a feature often missing in this rugged SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L powertrain averages approximately 11.4 L/100km, offering a more economical profile than V6 competitors in stop-start city traffic. As a Nissan, it benefits from one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. The X Terra historically retains roughly 70-73% of its value after three years in the GCC, making it one of the most stable financial choices in the mid-size SUV category.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5-litre engine delivers a reliable 165 hp and 241 Nm of torque, specifically tuned for consistent performance in high-temperature environments. Its body-on-frame construction and selectable four-wheel-drive system, featuring a rotary mode selector for sand and rock, make it genuinely capable of weekend desert excursions. With 243 mm of ground clearance, it easily clears obstacles that would stop road-biased crossovers, providing peace of mind during wadi explorations or heavy rain flooding.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for the Gulf climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone automatic climate control system with dedicated cooling vents for all three rows. The Platinum trim’s quilted leather seats provide excellent support for long drives, while the remote engine start allows you to pre-cool the interior before entering in the summer months. Practicality is highlighted by a flat-folding rear floor, expanding cargo capacity to nearly 1,000 litres when the third row is stowed.

Safety

Safety is a priority with the Platinum trim’s standard 360-degree Around View Monitor, which is essential for navigating tight mall parking in Dubai. The vehicle is equipped with 6 airbags and a suite of active technologies including Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. These systems are particularly effective on fast-moving multi-lane highways, providing an extra layer of protection for the entire family.

The bottom line

This Platinum trim X Terra is the ideal match for a family seeking the durability of a desert-ready 4x4 without sacrificing the luxury of a flagship specification. It offers a turn-key opportunity to own a high-spec, GCC-ready SUV that is mechanically suited for the region's demanding conditions.
