Nissan X Terra PLATINUM 2.5

Highlights

• 243 mm minimum ground clearance
• 78-litre fuel tank standard
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This two-year-old Nissan X-Terra is a compelling find for families, featuring a black exterior that consistently performs well in the local resale market. As the top-tier Platinum trim, it delivers a more refined interior than its rivals, balancing rugged body-on-frame durability with modern road manners. With 38,336 km on the clock, its usage is slightly below the average expectation for a GCC-based SUV of this age, suggesting careful ownership. The Four-Wheel Drive system and high ground clearance make it a versatile companion for both weekend desert trips and daily school runs. For a GCC buyer, the peace of mind provided by Nissan's massive local service footprint remains the strongest argument for choosing this over newer, less established competitors.

This Car vs Other 2024 X Terras

At 38,336 km, this vehicle's mileage is notably lower than the 40,000–50,000 km typically seen on two-year-old family SUVs in the GCC. The black exterior is one of the region's most sought-after resale colors, ensuring better value retention compared to niche shades. It represents a balanced opportunity to own a nearly-new flagship trim without the steep initial depreciation of a showroom-fresh unit.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim is a significant step up from the Titanium and SE, adding premium leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats that are essential for long-distance GCC highway comfort. It also includes an upgraded 8-speaker Bose audio system and a 360-degree Around View Monitor, features that are often missed in the more basic, fabric-clad lower specifications. Furthermore, the Platinum gains advanced safety tech like Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Warning as standard.

X Terra vs Segment Rivals

The X-Terra leads rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport in on-road refinement and cabin technology, offering a more car-like dashboard layout and better sound insulation. While others focus purely on utility, the Nissan provides a superior 78-litre fuel tank, extending its highway range for cross-emirate travel. Its multi-link rear suspension also delivers a noticeably smoother ride on paved roads compared to the jumpier leaf-spring setups found in some competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine averages around 11.4 L/100km, performing efficiently during steady-speed highway cruising between cities. Nissan's authorized service centers, such as Arabian Automobiles and Al Masaood, are ubiquitous across the UAE and the wider GCC, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. The X-Terra enjoys strong value retention, typically depreciating at a lower rate than European mid-size SUVs due to its reputation for mechanical longevity in extreme heat.

Performance & Capability

With 243 mm of ground clearance, this SUV is built to clear obstacles that would stop most crossovers, making it a genuine 4x4 for light-to-moderate desert exploration. The 7-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth power delivery rather than aggressive sprints, focusing on reliable torque for sandy inclines and highway overtaking. The selectable Four-Wheel Drive system includes a dedicated low-range mode, providing the necessary mechanical leverage for recovery or steep terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin comfortably seats seven, with theatre-style seating that ensures rear passengers have a clear view forward, reducing motion sickness on long trips. Dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents is standard, a vital feature for maintaining passenger comfort during peak GCC summer months. The interior is finished with soft-touch materials and premium leather, creating a more sophisticated environment than the utilitarian cabins found in many body-on-frame SUVs.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive in the Platinum trim, featuring six airbags and a suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies. The 360-degree Around View Monitor is particularly helpful for parking a vehicle of this size in tight urban spaces, while Intelligent Emergency Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Alert provide essential protection in fast-moving highway traffic. These active systems are standard on this trim, whereas they are often absent or optional on base-level segment rivals.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing family that needs a reliable daily driver with genuine weekend off-road potential, this low-mileage Platinum trim offers the best of Nissan’s tech and durability in the region's most popular color.
