Summary

This Suzuki Baleno GLX represents a highly practical choice for the GCC driver, balancing modern technology with exceptional running costs. As the top-tier trim, it features premium additions usually reserved for larger vehicles, such as a 360-degree camera and a head-up display. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the UAE and Saudi markets, offering the best heat reflection and the strongest resale potential. With its 1.5-litre engine, it provides a spirited yet economical drive that handles stop-start city traffic and highway commutes with ease. For a buyer seeking a reliable, tech-forward daily driver that maintains its value, this GCC-spec hatchback is a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2024 Balenos

With 91,914 km, this vehicle reflects typical active use for a GCC-based commuter who relies on the region's vast highway network. While the mileage is higher than the annual average, it indicates a car that has been regularly run and maintained for long-distance reliability. The white exterior provides a significant advantage for local resale, as it remains the most popular choice for the UAE climate.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim significantly elevates the ownership experience over the base GL model by adding essential technology for modern GCC driving. It upgrades to LED projector headlamps with daytime running lights, a larger 9-inch infotainment screen, and the highly desirable 360-degree camera system. Additionally, the GLX includes a head-up display and keyless entry with push-button start, features that add daily convenience and command a premium in the used market.

Baleno vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Sunny, the Baleno leads with a more compact, city-friendly footprint while offering advanced tech like a head-up display that competitors lack at this price point. Its 1.5-litre powertrain provides a better balance of torque for highway overtaking than many entry-level sub-compacts. The hatchback configuration also offers superior vertical cargo flexibility compared to the traditional sedans in this segment.

Running Costs & Resale

This model achieves an impressive fuel economy of 19 km/L, making it one of the most efficient petrol options for those facing long commutes between Emirates. Suzuki enjoys a vast authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring that parts and maintenance are both affordable and accessible. Historically, Japanese hatchbacks like the Baleno retain value exceptionally well in the GCC, with depreciation rates typically lower than European competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine produces 103 hp and 138 Nm of torque, which is perfectly tuned for the lightweight chassis. This allows for a top speed of 170 km/h and steady performance during high-speed highway cruising. The automatic transmission is built for durability in extreme heat, ensuring smooth power delivery even during the peak summer months.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is surprisingly spacious for a sub-compact, offering generous rear legroom and rear AC vents to ensure even cooling for all five passengers during the summer. The GLX trim features a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 60:40 split-folding rear seat that expands the 318-litre boot space for larger loads. Acoustic glass treatment helps isolate the interior from road noise during fast-moving highway drives.

Safety

This GLX trim comes equipped with six airbags, providing comprehensive protection compared to the two airbags found in lower variants. Standard safety features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and a 360-degree camera that makes parking in tight urban spaces effortless. The inclusion of ISOFIX child-seat anchors and a tire pressure monitoring system ensures peace of mind for family use.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious professional or small family, this tech-loaded GLX trim offers the best of Suzuki's reliability in a color and specification that ensures strong long-term value in the GCC market.
