Summary

This 2024 Tesla Model Y Long Range offers a strategic entry into the EV market, finished in the region’s most popular White exterior for maximum solar reflection and resale strength. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it ensures full compatibility with the local Supercharger network and regional warranty standards. The Long Range trim is the ideal choice for UAE residents, providing the extra battery buffer needed for high-speed commutes between Emirates. With a spacious five-seat layout and massive cargo capacity, it bridges the gap between a family SUV and a high-performance crossover. For the buyer looking to avoid the initial depreciation of a brand-new EV, this recent model year represents an excellent balance of modern tech and proven efficiency.

This Car vs Other 2024 Model Ys

With 91,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been used as a dedicated long-distance commuter, which is common for GCC-based EVs serving the Dubai-Abu Dhabi route. While this is higher than the average annual mileage for city cars, the electric drivetrain lacks the complex wear components of a petrol engine, making it mechanically robust. The Pearl White multi-coat finish is the highest-demand color in the UAE used market, ensuring better value retention compared to darker shades.

Long Range vs Lower Trims

The Long Range trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the Standard RWD model by adding the Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive system for superior traction during occasional rain or on gravel. Crucially, it features the Premium Audio system with 13 speakers and a subwoofer, alongside a larger battery pack that is essential for maintaining range while running the air conditioning at full capacity during summer. It also includes LED fog lamps and heated seats for all five passengers as standard.

Model Y vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Audi Q4 e-tron or the BMW iX3, the Model Y leads in cargo versatility thanks to its additional 117-litre 'frunk' and a flat-folding rear seat mechanism. Its integration with the Tesla Supercharger network remains a decisive advantage across the GCC, offering a more seamless long-distance travel experience than third-party charging dependent competitors. The minimalist cabin also offers significantly more legroom in both rows than most traditional European luxury crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world efficiency typically averages around 170-190 Wh/km in GCC highway conditions, offering significant savings over petrol SUVs in the same performance bracket. Service intervals are minimal as Tesla does not require traditional oil changes or transmission flushes; maintenance typically focuses on tyre rotations and cabin filter replacements every 20,000 km. While EVs generally see 15-20% annual depreciation in the UAE, the Long Range trim holds its value better than the Performance model due to its broader appeal among family buyers.

Performance & Capability

The Dual Motor setup delivers a sharp 0-100 km/h time of 5.0 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11. With a top speed of 217 km/h and instant torque delivery, it handles the weight of five passengers and luggage without any drop in responsiveness. The 250 kW DC fast-charging capability means you can add up to 260 km of range in just 15 minutes at a V3 Supercharger, making it highly capable for cross-border trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a 15-inch touchscreen that controls everything from the powerful GCC-optimized climate control to the expansive glass roof's UV protection. The five-seat configuration offers a high seating position for better visibility, with an impressive 2,041 litres of total storage space when the rear seats are folded flat. The interior remains quiet even at highway speeds thanks to acoustic glass, providing a refined environment for long UAE drives.

Safety

Equipped with Tesla's full ADAS suite, this vehicle features Autopilot capabilities including active emergency braking, lane departure avoidance, and blind-spot monitoring which are vital for multi-lane highway traffic. The Model Y has achieved 5-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and NHTSA, aided by a low center of gravity that reduces rollover risk. Its rigid body structure and multiple airbag zones provide top-tier protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Long Range is the perfect match for a UAE professional who needs a reliable, high-capacity EV for long-distance commuting without the premium price of a new showroom model.
