Toyota Land Cruiser VXR

Highlights

• 700 Nm of torque
• 235 mm ground clearance
• 110-litre fuel tank

Summary

This Land Cruiser represents the flagship of Toyota's luxury-focused off-roaders, pairing the robust 3.3L twin-turbo diesel engine with the top-tier VXR specification. As a 2024 model in the classic white pearl exterior, it holds the strongest resale profile in the GCC, where this specific configuration is highly coveted for its balance of efficiency and prestige. The twin-turbo V6 delivers significantly more torque than the previous V8, making it an ideal companion for high-speed highway cruising between Emirates or navigating soft dunes. Choosing the diesel VXR ensures you get the longest range possible for cross-border desert expeditions without sacrificing the ventilated leather and premium tech expected of a flagship. It remains the gold standard for anyone seeking a vehicle that is as comfortable at a valet stand as it is in the middle of the Empty Quarter.

This Car vs Other 2024 Land Cruisers

In the GCC market, most 2024 models are petrol-powered, making this 3.3L diesel variant a standout for buyers prioritizing long-distance range and low-end torque. The white exterior is the most stable resale color in the region, ensuring this car remains a liquid asset. While typical annual mileage for a vehicle of this class in the UAE ranges between 20,000 and 25,000 km, this late-model example provides a modern ownership experience with the latest TNGA-F chassis improvements.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim is the ultimate luxury expression of the 300-series, adding essential GCC comforts that lower trims like the GXR lack. You gain a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system, a 12.3-inch high-definition infotainment screen, and four-zone climate control for maximum passenger comfort in summer. Furthermore, the VXR includes the full Toyota Safety Sense suite and a Head-Up Display, features that significantly improve the daily driving experience on fast-moving multi-lane highways.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads with its dedicated 110-litre fuel capacity and the superior fuel efficiency of its twin-turbo diesel powertrain, offering much greater range for desert travel. While rivals might offer more cabin tech, the Land Cruiser maintains its lead in absolute durability thanks to its body-on-frame construction and a specialized cooling system designed for 50°C+ temperatures. It remains the preferred choice for those who need a vehicle capable of reaching remote areas where fuel stops are infrequent.

Running Costs & Resale

The Land Cruiser holds the highest resale value of any SUV in the GCC, typically retaining over 80% of its value after the first three years. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km at authorized Toyota centers, which are the most widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The 3.3L diesel powertrain offers a significant reduction in fuel costs compared to petrol V6 models, especially during long-distance highway hauls between cities.

Performance & Capability

The 3.3L twin-turbo diesel produces a massive 700 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless towing and rapid highway overtaking despite the vehicle's size. With 235 mm of ground clearance and a 700 mm wading depth, it is fully equipped for technical off-road excursions. The 10-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned to keep the engine in its power band, ensuring smooth delivery whether you are climbing steep dunes or cruising at high speed on the E11.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is a sanctuary of GCC-focused luxury, featuring ventilated front and second-row seats to combat extreme heat. The VXR grade includes a factory-fitted refrigerator in the center console and dedicated rear climate vents to ensure all passengers stay cool during long summer drives. Premium leather upholstery and acoustic glass provide a quiet, refined environment that masks the rugged capabilities hidden beneath the chassis.

Safety

Safety is managed by a comprehensive 10-airbag system and the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 platform, which includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist. These systems are invaluable for reducing driver fatigue on long desert highways. Additionally, the 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor and Multi-Terrain Monitor provide critical visibility when navigating tight urban parking spaces or judging obstacles on a rocky trail.

The bottom line

This 2024 diesel VXR is the perfect match for a GCC buyer who demands a flagship SUV with the longest possible driving range and the highest historical resale protection available in the market.
