Toyota Land Cruiser EXR

• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser EXR offers a nearly new entry into the legendary 300-series generation with a mileage that is perfectly average for its first year in the GCC. The white exterior is the gold standard for resale in the Gulf, effectively reflecting heat while ensuring high demand in the secondary market. As the EXR trim, it provides the essential off-road hardware Land Cruiser is famous for, including center and rear differential locks, without the excessive cost of high-tech luxury packages. It stands out against rivals with its body-on-frame durability and a powertrain designed to handle the extreme heat of local summers. For a buyer in the UAE or wider region, this represents a reliable long-term asset with the strongest value retention in the segment.

This Car vs Other 2024 Land Cruisers

With 51,000 km on the clock, this vehicle has been driven more than a typical city car but sits comfortably within the high-usage patterns common for Land Cruisers in the GCC. This mileage often indicates a history of highway-heavy commutes between Emirates, which is easier on the engine and transmission than stop-start city traffic. The white color is a significant buying advantage in this market, holding its value better than almost any other shade due to its superior heat deflection.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR serves as the practical entry point to the 300-series luxury, but it doesn't skip the essentials GCC buyers prioritize. Unlike the base fleet-oriented models, the EXR includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a 9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and tri-zone climate control for rear passenger comfort. Crucially, it retains the mechanical Rear Differential Lock and Crawl Control, ensuring it is just as capable in the dunes as the flagship trims.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

While the Nissan Patrol offers a more road-biased ride, the Land Cruiser leads with its 312 mm ground clearance and superior approach angles for serious off-roading. Its 110-litre fuel tank provides a massive range for long-distance desert trips or cross-border drives that smaller SUVs can't match. Additionally, the Toyota service network is the most widespread in the region, ensuring parts and expert technicians are available in every corner of the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 is a robust, naturally aspirated engine with a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.6 L/100km, which is efficient for a full-sized SUV. It is designed to run reliably on local fuel grades even in 50-degree heat. Toyota's authorized service centers are ubiquitous across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, with standard service intervals of 10,000 km. Historically, this model sees some of the lowest depreciation rates in the world, often retaining over 85% of its value after the first three years in the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a permanent All-Wheel Drive system, providing steady power for highway overtaking and heavy-duty towing. Its 312 mm ground clearance allows it to navigate terrain that would stop most family crossovers, making it a true dual-purpose vehicle. The inclusion of Multi-Terrain Select and a robust low-range transfer case means this SUV is ready for weekend desert adventures immediately.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the seven-seat layout is highly flexible, with a third row that can be folded to create a massive cargo area for family road trips. The tri-zone climate control is specifically engineered for the Gulf, featuring high-output vents that can cool the large cabin in minutes during peak summer. Fabric seats are often preferred by local off-roaders as they remain cooler to the touch than leather when parked in the sun.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on this trim, featuring a suite of airbags including dual front and knee protection. It comes standard with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), and a Rear View Camera to assist with parking this large SUV. For highway safety, the EXR includes Cruise Control and Brake Assist, which are essential for the high-speed, multi-lane traffic common across the UAE's road network.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC family or adventurer who wants the latest 300-series platform with a proven, reliable V6 engine and the best possible resale color. It offers the perfect balance of modern tech and rugged 4x4 capability without the premium price of the twin-turbo variants.
