Summary

This 2024 model represents the absolute pinnacle of Toyota engineering, combining a formidable twin-turbocharged powertrain with the legendary durability that has defined the region's automotive landscape for decades. As the top-tier VXR trim, it offers a sophisticated balance of executive luxury and rugged off-road prowess that few rivals can match. In the GCC market, the black exterior is a high-demand, prestigious selection that maintains exceptional resale strength and aesthetic appeal. Given its recent model year, this vehicle offers a virtually new ownership experience without the initial showroom depreciation hit. Choosing this specific trim ensures you have the most advanced cooling and stabilization technology required for both city commuting and deep desert exploration. For any serious buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, the primary advantage here is the ironclad reliability and the peace of mind that comes with a vehicle designed specifically for our unique climate and terrain.

This Car vs Other 2024 Land Cruisers

When compared to typical 2024 listings in the UAE and Saudi markets, this vehicle stands out for its pristine condition and the prestige of its black-on-black color profile, which remains one of the most liquid assets in the used car market. While many same-year models are put into heavy fleet service, this example reflects the care of a vehicle intended for private executive or family use. The mileage for a vehicle of this age in the GCC typically falls between 20,000 and 25,000 kilometers per year, meaning this car is likely still within its standard factory evaluation period. By opting for a 2024 model year, you are securing the latest technical calibrations and infotainment updates that earlier production years lacked. It is a strategically sound choice for those who want the current-generation aesthetic and performance without the wait times often associated with brand-new orders. This specific vehicle perfectly bridges the gap between a new car and a savvy pre-owned investment.

VXR vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the VXR from the GXR or EXR variants introduces a quantum leap in both interior ambiance and mechanical sophistication. Unlike the entry-level trims, the VXR is equipped with the advanced Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system, which provides a plush, cloud-like ride on Sheikh Zayed Road while automatically stiffening for better control when cornering. Inside, you benefit from significantly more premium materials including high-grade leather upholstery and a larger 12.3-inch high-resolution infotainment screen that integrates more seamlessly with modern devices. The climate control system is significantly enhanced in this trim, offering multi-zone temperature management that is essential for rear passengers during the peak summer months. Furthermore, the VXR includes the premium JBL sound system and a full suite of ventilated seating options that are often omitted or optional on lower-tier trims. These features aren't just about luxury; they are highly sought-after specifications that significantly bolster the vehicle's trade-in value later on.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

In the competitive landscape of the GCC, the Land Cruiser primarily faces off against the Nissan Patrol and the Lexus LX. While the Patrol offers a traditional V8 experience, this 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 in the Toyota provides superior low-end torque, which is vital for navigating soft sand dunes and making quick highway overtakes. Against European rivals like the Land Rover Defender, the Toyota holds a decisive lead in terms of long-term mechanical simplicity and the sheer density of the service network available from Abu Dhabi to Muscat. The fuel tank capacity remains a major differentiator, allowing for massive range on cross-border trips where petrol stations can be sparse. Additionally, the cabin cooling performance of this model is specifically engineered to reach optimal temperatures faster than its German or British counterparts. For the family buyer, the sheer interior volume and the reputational reliability make it a more pragmatic long-term hold than almost anything else in the full-size SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Land Cruiser in the GCC is widely considered one of the safest financial decisions a driver can make. Historically, this model experiences the lowest depreciation rate in its class, often retaining up to 85-90% of its value after the first year and holding steady far longer than premium European SUVs. Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 is notably more efficient than the outgoing V8 models, averaging approximately 9.3 to 10.5 km per liter depending on the mix of city and highway driving. Authorized service centers are more abundant for this brand than any other in the region, ensuring that maintenance is never more than a short drive away regardless of which emirate or GCC state you are in. Parts availability is unparalleled, with both genuine and high-quality aftermarket components stocked by nearly every major distributor. This logistical advantage keeps long-term maintenance costs predictable and significantly lower than the segment average.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this VXR is its 409-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6, which delivers a seamless 650 Nm of torque directly to all four wheels through a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain allows the massive SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in approximately 6.7 seconds, a figure that was recently reserved for sports sedans. Off-road, the car utilizes its 'Multi-Terrain Select' system to calibrate the AWD system for sand, mud, or rock at the turn of a dial. The ground clearance and approach angles ensure that even the most daunting dunes in the Liwa Desert can be tackled with confidence. On the highway, the 4WD system provides exceptional stability during the high-speed cross-emirate commutes typical of UAE life. The towing capacity is similarly robust, easily handling large boats or horse trailers, making it the ultimate tool for a lifestyle of weekend adventure. Whether you are navigating a flooded wadi or cruising at 140 km/h, the power delivery remains composed and effortless.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the VXR is designed to be a sanctuary from the harsh external environment of the Middle East. With a full 7-seat configuration, it accommodates large families with ease, providing ample legroom even in the second and third rows. The air conditioning system is widely regarded as the best in the industry, featuring a high-capacity compressor that can turn the cabin into an icebox even when it is 50 degrees Celsius outside. High-quality insulation materials significantly reduce wind and road noise, allowing for quiet conversations during long highway hauls between Dubai and Riyadh. The VXR trim specifically includes ventilated seats that circulate cooled air through the leather upholstery, a feature that becomes a daily necessity from May through October. Technology is also front-and-center, with a massive widescreen display and a premium audio system that creates a concert-hall experience on the move. Every touchpoint feels substantial and durable, built to withstand the rigors of family life and desert dust alike.

Safety

Safety in the VXR is comprehensive, centered around the Toyota Safety Sense suite which provides a multi-layered shield for all occupants. For the fast-paced multi-lane highways of the UAE, the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist are invaluable, reducing driver fatigue on long stretches of road. Blind Spot Monitoring is particularly crucial given the vehicle's size, ensuring safe lane changes in heavy city traffic. Automated Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection provides an extra layer of security in busy urban environments like Downtown Dubai. The vehicle is also equipped with a 360-degree camera system that makes parking this large SUV in tight mall spaces surprisingly simple. Furthermore, the robust frame and advanced airbag system ensure maximum protection in the event of an unavoidable collision. It is a vehicle designed not just to survive an accident, but to actively prevent one through the most intelligent tech currently available in the SUV market.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who refuses to choose between high-end luxury and legendary desert capability, this 2024 VXR is a flawless choice. It remains the smartest investment in the regional automotive market thanks to its unmatched resale value and the peace of mind offered by the most extensive service network in the Middle East.
