Summary

This 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport represents a rare configuration for the GCC market, featuring the tactile six-speed manual transmission preferred by enthusiasts. With only 15,000 km, this near-new pickup offers a significant mileage advantage over typical GCC workhorses, while the black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the Emirates. As a TRD Sport, it transitions seamlessly from a sharp-looking street truck to a capable weekend adventurer, benefiting from a complete fourth-generation redesign that modernizes every interior touchpoint. The combination of Toyota's legendary reliability and a manual gearbox makes this a durable, long-term asset for any driver who prioritizes mechanical engagement.

This Car vs Other 2024 Tacomas

While many midsize pickups in the UAE accumulate high mileage quickly on long inter-city routes, this example’s 15,000 km is significantly below the regional annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the GCC, offering better value retention than more niche shades. Being a manual transmission model, it stands apart from the typical automatic imports, appealing specifically to drivers who want total control over the powertrain.

TRD Sport vs Lower Trims

The TRD Sport trim adds significant refinement over the SR5, most notably through its sport-tuned suspension with red shocks that provide a more composed ride on paved highways. It introduces 18-inch machined alloy wheels and a functional hood scoop that provides a more aggressive visual profile. Inside, you benefit from a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and aluminum pedals, features that elevate the cabin beyond the entry-level work-truck specifications.

Tacoma vs Segment Rivals

The Tacoma leads rivals like the Nissan Frontier and Chevrolet Colorado in terms of transmission choice, being one of the only modern pickups still offering a manual gearbox. Its shared TNGA-F platform with the Land Cruiser 300 ensures a level of structural rigidity and parts commonality that competitors struggle to match in the GCC. While rivals may offer higher peak towing numbers, the Tacoma’s turbocharged 2.4L engine delivers peak torque much lower in the rev range for easier overtaking on fast-moving highways.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota maintains one of the strongest resale values in the GCC, with the Tacoma typically depreciating far slower than its American or European rivals. While this is an American spec vehicle, the global nature of Toyota’s parts network means that routine maintenance and body components are readily supported by a wide range of independent specialists and parts retailers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Fuel consumption is competitive for the class, benefiting from the new 4-cylinder turbo efficiency compared to the older V6 units.

Performance & Capability

The i-FORCE turbocharged engine produces 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque in this manual configuration, providing immediate response for merging into Dubai's fast lanes. The 6-speed manual transmission includes 'iMT' technology, which provides automatic rev-matching for smoother downshifts during spirited driving. With a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,900 kg, it is more than capable of hauling jet skis or a camping trailer for weekend escapes to the northern emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2024 redesign brings a vastly improved seating position and modern tech, including a standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The TRD Sport cabin features fabric-trimmed seats designed for durability in high temperatures and an upgraded digital cockpit that is easily readable even in direct midday sun. Multi-link rear suspension—standard on this trim—provides a smoother ride quality than the leaf-spring setups found on base models, making long desert highway drives far more comfortable for all five passengers.

Safety

This Tacoma comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. These systems are particularly valuable for long-distance GCC driving, helping to mitigate fatigue on the straight highways between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh. The inclusion of Proactive Driving Assist and Road Sign Assist provides an extra layer of awareness in busy urban traffic environments.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants the latest generation of Toyota's iconic truck with the rare engagement of a manual gearbox, this low-mileage TRD Sport is the premier choice currently available in the market.
