Summary

This 2024 Volvo XC60 Core represents a smart acquisition in the GCC market, offering the latest generation's refinement with mileage that sits below the typical 25,000 km annual average for the region. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the UAE, effectively reflecting heat while ensuring the highest possible resale demand when it comes time to trade. As a Scandinavian alternative to the usual German suspects, it provides a more relaxed, safety-focused driving environment that is perfect for professional commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With its efficient mild-hybrid powertrain, it balances premium SUV presence with sensible running costs, making it a highly rational choice for the modern GCC family.

This Car vs Other 2024 XC60s

At 36,425 km, this vehicle's usage is well within the expected range for a 2024 model in the UAE, where long-distance highway commutes are standard. Its white exterior remains the most sought-after color in the local used market, offering a significant advantage for future value retention compared to darker tones. Choosing a 2024 model ensures you benefit from the most mature version of the current Google-integrated infotainment system.

CORE vs Lower Trims

The Core trim serves as the entry point but is far from basic, coming standard with a panoramic sunroof and the comprehensive Google built-in suite that GCC buyers now expect. While higher trims add 360-degree cameras and leather, the Core features high-quality textile or leatherette that often stays cooler in the extreme summer heat. It retains all the essential Volvo safety DNA, including the advanced Pilot Assist hardware that makes long desert highway drives significantly less fatiguing.

XC60 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW X3 or Mercedes-Benz GLC, the XC60 leads with a more generous 71-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for cross-border trips or long drives to the Northern Emirates. Volvo’s seats are widely regarded as the most ergonomic in the class, offering better long-distance support for regional road trips than its sportier German rivals. Its minimalist Scandinavian cabin provides a serene environment that is effectively insulated from the hustle of stop-start city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L mild-hybrid engine is optimized for efficiency, returning approximately 7.6L/100km on the highway, which is ideal for the UAE's high-speed road network. Maintenance is straightforward through the extensive Al Futtaim service network across the UAE, with standard intervals every 10,000 km or 12 months. As a GCC-spec vehicle with a high-demand color, it follows a predictable depreciation curve, typically retaining around 65% of its value after the first three years.

Performance & Capability

The B5 powertrain delivers 247 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, enabling a smooth 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds, which is more than enough for confident merging on the E11. While this is the front-wheel-drive variant optimized for city efficiency, its 211 mm ground clearance makes it perfectly capable of handling gravel tracks and light wadi excursions for weekend escapes. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for seamless shifts, prioritizing passenger comfort over aggressive performance.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 5-seat cabin is a masterclass in light and space, aided by the standard panoramic sunroof that creates an airy feel even during the bright GCC summer. The dual-zone climate control is specifically engineered to cope with regional temperatures, featuring Volvo's CleanZone technology to filter out dust and allergens common in the desert environment. With the rear seats folded, the cargo capacity expands to 1,410 litres, easily accommodating golf bags, strollers, or large IKEA hauls.

Safety

Volvo's reputation is backed by a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, featuring a high-strength boron steel safety cage and a full suite of airbags. Standard ADAS features include Blind Spot Information (BLIS), which is essential for the fast-moving, multi-lane highways of Dubai and Riyadh, and Lane Keeping Aid to prevent drifting during long drives. The system also includes Forward Collision Mitigation, which can detect pedestrians and large animals, providing an extra layer of security during night driving on unlit rural roads.

The bottom line

For the UAE buyer who values safety and understated luxury over flashy badges, this low-mileage 2024 XC60 is the perfect blend of modern tech and high resale potential.
