Summary

This 2025 Toyota Fortuner EXR is a robust family workhorse perfectly suited for the GCC's demanding environment. As a one-year-old vehicle, it represents a significant saving over new list prices while retaining the legendary reliability that makes the Fortuner a segment leader. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring maximum heat reflection during summer and excellent resale liquidity. With its body-on-frame construction and proven 2.7L engine, this SUV offers the durability needed for both daily school runs and weekend desert exploration.

This Car vs Other 2025 Fortuners

With 52,941 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km GCC average for its first year. However, in the local market, these highway-heavy kilometers are well within the mechanical limits of a Toyota powertrain. The popular white finish provides a distinct advantage at resale compared to darker tones, as it remains the preferred choice for GCC buyers looking for thermal efficiency.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR trim serves as the balanced entry into the Fortuner range, adding essential GCC comforts over the base fleet specifications. Key upgrades include 17-inch alloy wheels, a 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and cruise control for long highway drives between Emirates. It also features a rear-view camera and front/rear parking sensors, which are vital for maneuvering a vehicle of this size in tight urban malls.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

The Fortuner leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Nissan X-Terra in terms of sheer mechanical simplicity and widespread parts availability across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its 80-liter fuel tank provides superior range for long-distance desert trips compared to many unibody crossovers. While competitors may offer more tech, the Fortuner's body-on-frame chassis ensures it remains more capable when the tarmac ends.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L engine typically ranges between 11.8 and 13.5 L/100km in GCC stop-start traffic, dropping to approximately 9.4 L/100km on open highways. The Fortuner boasts one of the strongest value retention rates in the Gulf, typically depreciating by just 10% annually. Maintenance is straightforward with 10,000 km service intervals supported by an extensive network of authorized centers in every major GCC city.

Performance & Capability

The naturally aspirated 2.7L engine produces 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque, focused on reliability rather than raw speed. Its standout feature is the 279 mm ground clearance, which allows it to clear obstacles that would stop most family SUVs. The selectable 4WD system includes a dedicated low-range transfer case, providing the necessary torque for soft sand recovery during desert weekends.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC family logistics with seven seats in a theater-style layout and dedicated rear climate vents to ensure all three rows stay cool in 45°C heat. The second row features a one-touch tumble mechanism for easy access to the back, while the durable fabric upholstery is better suited to the local climate than leather. A cooled glovebox is also included, providing a convenient space to keep drinks chilled during long summer drives.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of active systems including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) to prevent rollback on dunes or steep ramps. The vehicle is equipped with three airbags standard—driver, passenger, and a driver’s knee airbag—along with ISOFIX points in the second row for secure child seat installation.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a nearly-new SUV that balances urban practicality with genuine off-road hardware, this Fortuner EXR is a bulletproof investment that will hold its value better than almost anything else on the road.
