Summary

This 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 70 in the LC79 LX trim represents the latest evolution of the world's most durable pickup, now updated with a refined 2.8-litre diesel powertrain and a smooth automatic transmission. White remains the strongest resale color in the GCC, ensuring excellent value retention for years to come. While its rivals have moved toward complex electronics, the Land Cruiser 70 maintains the heavy-duty hardware that makes it the default choice for desert overlanding and remote work across the region. For the GCC buyer, this model offers the perfect balance of legendary reliability and modern drivability, backed by a service network that spans every corner of the Middle East.

This Car vs Other 2025 Land Cruiser 70s

As a brand-new 2025 model, this vehicle is at the start of its lifecycle with zero mileage concerns, a major advantage in a market where these workhorses typically cover 25,000 km annually. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for GCC utility vehicles due to its heat-reflective properties and dominant resale demand. Choosing a 2025 model ensures you receive the latest interior refinements and the updated 1GD-FTV engine before typical high-mileage wear begins.

LC79 LX vs Lower Trims

The LX trim elevates the rugged LC79 experience by adding essential GCC comforts like high-grade fabric seats and a more functional dashboard layout. Crucially, it includes front and rear differential locks as standard, whereas lower trims often rely on limited-slip setups. You also get the upgraded 6.7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, providing modern connectivity in a traditionally analog cabin.

Land Cruiser 70 vs Segment Rivals

While the Nissan Patrol Super Safari offers a similar old-school charm, the Land Cruiser 79 leads with its dedicated pickup configuration and superior 130-litre fuel capacity for long-range desert expeditions. Compared to modern mid-size trucks like the Hilux or Ranger, the LC79 utilizes a much heavier-duty live-axle suspension and a thicker ladder-frame chassis designed for decades, not just years, of service.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.8-litre diesel is significantly more efficient than the older V6 and V8 units, averaging approximately 9.6L/100km in combined driving. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km at authorized Toyota centers, which are the most widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The Land Cruiser 70 is legendary for having the lowest depreciation rate in the GCC, often retaining over 85% of its value after three years.

Performance & Capability

The new 2.8-litre engine delivers 500 Nm of torque, which is actually higher than the outgoing V8, providing better low-end pull for sand dunes and heavy hauling. With 235 mm of ground clearance and a factory-fitted snorkel, it is purpose-built for the extreme terrain of the Liwa desert or the Hajar mountains. The 6-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned to handle the high-torque demands of towing up to 3,500 kg in high ambient temperatures.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat Double Cab layout provides genuinely usable space for a crew or family, featuring a powerful air conditioning system designed to cool the cabin rapidly even in 50-degree summer heat. Interior tech is focused on durability, with easy-to-clean materials and a straightforward digital display in the gauge cluster. LX models benefit from power windows and central locking, features that make daily use in city traffic far more convenient than base workhorse versions.

Safety

The 2025 model features an enhanced safety suite including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC). Dual front airbags are standard, along with a Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert which are particularly helpful during long highway stretches between emirates. Unlike its predecessors, this version uses advanced brake assist technology to ensure shorter stopping distances on loose gravel and sand.

The bottom line

For the buyer who needs a vehicle that will never leave them stranded, this 2025 LC79 LX combines Toyota's most durable chassis with a modern, efficient diesel powertrain that makes it the ultimate GCC workhorse.
